More Than a World Away

Are you my mother?

Gabriella was in shock. It was the first time she had ever seen someone killed and also not how she imagined meeting her mother for the first time. Jacob was still laying unconscious on the ground next to them as Winter stroked Gabriella's hair.

"Are you alright dear?"

Gabriella nodded and dug her face deeper into her mothers soft, warm sleeve. Gaby could tell that Winter was crying and made an effort to comfort her back.

"I can't believe Redom would do something so horrible. Maybe he thought it would be just enough to break me..." She seemed to be talking to herself and Gabriella didn't care. She was glad to have someone's arms around her. After what seemed like hours Jacob stirred.

"What in Wicoing... my head hurts. "

Gabriella leapt out of Winter's arms and tackled Jacob back to the ground, kissing his face and crying tears of relief.

"Whoa! Be careful of his head!" Winter said laughing. Gabriella stopped and looked over at her mother.

"Will you please tell us what just happened?"

Winter smiled warmly,"Of course.But first let's have the healer take a look at you both."

Trey paced around and around. It had been nearly a week since Gabriella, Nicholai, and Jacob had left for Wicoing. The nurse kept yelling at him warning him of being over tired and to stop pacing around like a maniac.

"Trey I'm sure they are fine. Please you have to eat and take your medicine or Gabriella will be angry with you when she returns. Honestly, you worry too much." Helena said flustered. Trey looked over at her and gave up.

"I know Helena, I just can't help it." He took a deep breath and eyed the food hungrily. "Maybe just a bite."

After eating his meal and being force fed his meds, Trey was ready to get out of the castle.

"What can I do! I'm dying of boredom waiting for them to return."

"We could always go visit Bagetha," Helena mentioned.

Trey's face flushed. "No I'll find something to do here." And so he began to explore.

The first place he went was the kitchens. The scent of baking food was very comforting to him as he sorted out his thoughts.

okay. Should I leave and go to Wicoing? No I might be killed or miss Gaby and The King coming back. I'll just have to stay here and wait. And if I go mad with boredom, so be it. Trey stood from the table he was sitting at and took a deep breath.

Maybe a walk will do me good.

What a strange feeling, to realize that the mother who'd raised you never had felt like a real mother. To Gaby the real thing was something unique and irreplaceable. As Gabriella sat in her new rooms which connected directly to Queen Winter's, and Lord Jacob's.(although he was technically a lord I never mentioned it before because I never thought to do so. Well now you know) She sat on her bed shivering from the still-fresh shock of almost dying and then watching someone be murdered. Gabriella didn't see how it was that she could attened dinner with a man who had tried to have her murdered only hours before. Her clothes from earlier had been covered with blood so Winter had lent her a lavender gown that she didn't mind so much.

Maybe we should just run away.

Gaby shook her head.

No it would start a war and then we might even die trying to go back to Riften. (a salut Frostclaw ~.o) Gabriella drew her knees up to her chest.

Looks like I have no choice.

A knock came on the door and Someone entered.

Gabriella looked up and saw Jacob coming towards her. He sat next to her and gathered her into his lap.

"We'll be okay Gaby." He said as she hugged him.

"Will we? He tried to kill us." Jacob's beautiful eyes softened and he kissed her. She kissed him back and for once no one interrupted them. The kiss was growing, more and more and neither of them stopped it. Their bodies pressed together and being there with Jacob holding her in his arms made Gabriella feel like she would be able to handle dinner with King Redom. Laying there together Gabriella again felt like she had never loved anyone more than she loved Jacob.

"Jacob,"She whispered then pressed her lips to his ear, "I love you."

Jacob kissed her cheek,"I love you too Gaby."

You know, we should go to dinner.

If they want us they can come get us. Gabriella laughed and they continued to lay there, together. Not thinking about anything but their unbreakable love for each other.

Trey was just going to head back to the castle when he ran head on into a chamber maid, her arms piled high with clothes and sheets and blankets. When Trey's vision cleared he saw the girl he had run into. She watched as her freshly washed clothes fluttered down around her. Her face flushed at the work she had to pick up but when she saw Trey sitting on the ground rubbing his head and staring at her she went red as a tomato.

"Oh my! I am so sorry um Sir, I wasn't watching where I was going and oh are you hurt?" She stood up and went over to Trey.

"Yes, Yes I am all right. But are you?"

"Yes, I am fine." Trey looked at the girl with her golden blonde hair and light green eyes. She blushed when she noticed him starring.

"What is your name?" He asked.

"Oh my name is Ski."(Pronounced like sky)

"Oh,I am Trey." They shook hands awkwardly.Then Ski began picking up the linens she dropped. Trey began helping her. Once they were finished Ski thanked him and continued on her way to the castle.

Trey didn't understand why his head felt like this but he couldn't think clearly. Maybe it was just the fall...
