I get dumped by numourous dragons.

My heart raced. I had been waiting for that day for my entire life. My knees shook so vigorously that I thought they were going to fall off and my hands were numb. The long line of fifteen year olds shifted when the next person went into to the stables. The person behind me looked perfectly calm but the person in front of me had already thrown up twice. My mum sat on the side lines further down I could tell that mum was trying to hide how nervous she was for me.
The line moved slowly but surely until, finally, it was my turn next. I watched as the instructor lead the boy in front of me around the enclosures full of dragons. They pass from one cage to the next, until one of the many dragons, 'chose' the boy. I don't know how they knew that the dragon had chosen the boy but they closed the rickety stable doors anyway. That way if the dragon went savage, it was still contained, and because then the boy and the dragon can meet in private. The stables looked more like a rusty old metal shed that was about thirty meters wide. The shed was only used once every year for this exact occasion, the choosing ceremony. All the fifteen year olds file in one by one, and one of the dragons chose them.
from the outside I can hear happy giggles from the boy and shaking floors from the dragon bounding around. The instructor was saying something about the species of dragon but I don't think the boy was listening. After a short while, the stable doors flung open again and out came a freckly boy on top of a deadly downpour. Which is more commonly known as a rain dragon. After a few short seconds of fiddling with straps, the boys flew into the air on his dragon happily and vanished out of sight. The instructor looked up from her clip board and saw me. She tilted her crooked glasses to get a good look at me. Her hair was blonde, but I could hardly tell because some parts were burned from fire, other parts were completely drenched and some patches had bits of tree and things sticking out of it.
"Lilo Amarla, is it?" She asked as her eyes drifted up and down me.
"Yep, that's me."
"Nice to meet you, I'm Mayler, your instructor." She started in a very high pitched voice. "Ok, well I am going to have to ask you to put these gloves on, just some safety gear no biggy." She chatterd as she threw me a pair of leather gloves. "Well, besides that I think your good to go, leather shoes, check, no wet fingers, check and hair out of face, check, ok, before we begin, just some facts so that you know what I'm talk about. Firstly, there are eight different classes of dragons. By classes I mean how we classify dragons, putting them into groups pretty much. I'm sure you already knew that though" I nod, "the eight are water, fire, earth, sky, desert, plant, frost, and- well then let's go get your dragon." She said busily occasionally glancing at her watch.
"Wait, you said there were eight classes, and you only listed seven..." I questioned.
"Oh, you noticed." She muttered, I raised my eyebrow but she didn't notice.
The first enclosure we came to had thick singed black bars and behind it was a dragon that I didn't recognise. I looked at it curiously. It had large claws that were in flames and a narrow head with what seemed like fire, hair. "Flame thrower." Mayler informed "it almost looks like he is completely ignoring you. Must not like you much." She stated
The dragon curled up in the corner of the cage and hardly noticed me, so we continued on. The second enclosure had a sky class dragon inside, a storm chaser. I knew mum would kill me if I brought such a noisy dragon home, (it is most commonly known as a thunder dragon) but she didn't need to worry, the dragon launched itself at me but got stuck at the bars, her arm was sticking out of a gap and trying to attack me, luckily the instructor pulled me away before it could tear me to shreds. "She's never done that before." The leader said, "let's try the next cage." She suggested.
Maybe it wasn't such a good idea, the next cage tried to kill me again and then the next one ignored me. We continued on but I only got three outcomes, it tried to attack me, it ignored me or the cage was empty. The instructor looked frustrated as the whole stables got noisier and noisier with each cage I passed. We tried the last row and Mayler looked at me reassuringly, "well, I'm sure this will be it, we'll find you dragon." She looked like she was trying to convince herself just as much as she was trying to convince me. Neither of us believed it.
The same reaction continued until we came to the last five cagers. Then a lave lover spat at me, and swamperer threw mud at me, a timber jack ignored me, a sandstorm starter growled at me and then we came to the final cage.
My hopes were up, as my eyes were glued to the final dragon. It was a burn back, mostly red and yellow, he had scales and fur patched over his back, he had a large body and stubby legs, his wings were curled up tightly and his eyes stared at me with a look of disgust that covered his face, we stayed like that for about twelve seconds before he came closer and sniffed me an then attacked, he launched himself at the bars and tried to scratch at my face, then he roared and started burning his cell, aiming his fire at my face and burning my hair so that it matched my instructors. With a leap of surprise we took abrupt steps from the cage. The last cage. The last dragon.
My teacher glanced at me in surprise. "Wait a second, this would mean, well this would say, that means, er, can it be, your..."
"Dragonless." I finished.
I miserably stubbled to my parents who were laughing with my older brother Erid, and juggling my younger twins, Marlo and Kilba.
Dad saw me first, "hey, hey, hey, look who it is! How's my lilo lion after her big day?"he asks excitedly.
Then mum turned around, she saw my face and instantly knew what happened, even though she probably didn't know what happened, she probably thought that I got a sucky dragon or that I got attacked and badly injured. That's the thing with mum, she can easily make it look like she understands, like she has been there, like she... gets it, even if she doesn't.
"Where is it?" She asked nervously.
"I don't have one," I stated firmly. Mostly angry. I wasn't angry at her specifically just at life in general, and she was the easiest person to take it out on.
She stuttered slightly and she looked at my eyes longingly, when I didn't say anything she nodded slightly and turned away.
My brother came of and nudged my arm as if to tease me, but he didn't want to hurt me all at the same time. He had brown curly hair, so did the twins, in fact everyone in my family had brown hair, that is everyone, except me. My hair was jet black. Well, not all jet black, I was born with a bright purple streak just behind my ear. Most people don't believe I was born with it. But there is nothing I can do, everyone knows that having your hair died, is a symbol of rebellion, it practically is screaming that you disagree with all of our lifestyles. Of course that is not what I want, but there was nothing I can do except hide it behind my ear and hope that no one notices.
"Well, I guess your just gonna have to wear it." My Erid said, "I mean, anything can look good if you wear it proudly."
"What am I going to do at school!? Most lessons are literally based on your dragon, how to feed it, how to wash it, how to care for it! What am I supposed to do? Just sit there in the back corner being a loner!?" I snapped harshly.
"Maybe," mum started "we can retry, once all the other kids have finished." I nodded, slowly, slightly embarrassed that I made such a big deal out of nothing. I will get a dragon. I will. Everything will be alright.
