It was very early in the morning, Raine sat in the Akatsuki living room, an open book in her lap.

It was very dark, there were no lights on in the entire first floor, she couldn't see the words on the pages, but a voice in her head was telling her the story.

Kai sat, bleeding to death.
"Father," he said,"please, speak to me."

The voice, Raine only hoped, was Jashin. On multiple occasions though, she'd reread the books with lighting and the words spoken, were not the words typed.

She was very uncomfortable, clutching her necklace she'd removed an hour ago before opening the book, in her left hand.

A light flickered on and in a fairly calm movement she closed the book, not proud of it.

She heard nothing but the sound of light footsteps behind her. She didn't bother looking to see who it was, her senses were keen and she was fairly sure she already knew.

He sat on the second sofa. He looked strange in his sleep wear, casual. From her observations he wasn't a casual guy.

"Why up so early?" He asked.

"He's speaking to me, I'm not permitted to sleep until he's done." Raine replied, loosely fingering the necklace in her hand.

Itachi didn't reply, he didnt grasp it. Hidan made no sense at all to him, but this woman was even more queer. Maybe because she was obviously more intelligent that Hidan.

Intellectually closer to Itachi than Hidan could ever be.

"Jashin, hm?" He muttered.

Raine put her necklace on, casting a gaze to Itachi.
"I'd ask why you're awake, but, you don't even know."

Itachi almost glared,"your mission, please, tell me how it went."

Raine shrugged,"I only would've wished I had the option to work with my partner," she said.

"What about you, Uchiha, how's your mission going?"

Itachi's steady gaze was fixed on her.

"What mission?" He asked.

Raine untied her dark hair, letting it fall. Since their introductions he'd never seen it down.

She ran her fingers through the dark locks, gazing at his face, but not directly at his eyes.

She seemed to think he already knew.

When it became evident he wasn't going to answer, she smiled a little, a slight curl of her lips.

"Well, Sasuke's going to find you eventually." She spoke, her voice suddenly felt a lot more coarse.

"Don't speak of him." Itachi fired back, mistakenly giving Raine a clear weakness.

"How curious... For someone who killed his clan," Raine's voice lowered to a whisper,"you seem to care an awful lot about the lone survivor..."

Itachi blinked once, his long lashes falling into Raine's field of attention.

She suddenly smiled.

"I could never fully understand someone like you though."

Itachi's heart panged.

She stood and he did the same. She stopped and he caught glimpse of the red books title.

"A Jashinist bible." He spoke, his eyes firmly fixed on the book in her hands.

"I'm his favorite daughter." She said, her eyes cast downward.

"His favorite daughter..?" Itachi repeated.
