A/N: Freedom is actually my dog in real life so, yeah.

Maxine Lehnsherr

I'm in a bed, a soft, cool, comfortable bed. Something happened, why am I not running for my life, why am I not in my room. Who's room is this? I sit up and lay back down as a throbbing headache attacks me. It subsides when I lay my head back on the pillow.

"Maxine Lehnsherr?" A voice says and I start; my sword automatically comes to my hand and I point it at a man with a goatee.

"Hey, don't worry, I'm not going to hurt you." I back to the edge of the bed when he says this and continue to point my sword at him.

"Listen, my name is Tony Stark-"

"You're Tony Stark, the man under the metal?" I try my hardest not to laugh, despite my current pain, and his expression changes to one of distastefulness.

"Sorry, but I just thought you'd look different, continue... Stark." He nods his head at my sword and I put it away.

"So, I have to ask you a certain amount of questions, you answer them truthfully and correctly, you pass the test; Jarvis will let me know if you lie."

"Ok." He brings a chair up next to the bed and sits in it while pulling out a tablet.

"What is your name?"

"Maxine Lehnsherr." A ding sounds in the room.

"How old are you?"

"I'm... not really sure, I think I'm 26?" Another ding.

"Do you have a brother and two sisters?"

"No, I have two brothers, that I know of, and three sisters that I know of." Followed by a ding and several more questions that also acquire dings.

"A couple more to go; have you ever killed anyone." Cold, it suddenly gets very cold. I feel the sweat roll down my back. I try to swallow, but my mouth has been depleted of moister.

"Of my own accord, only once, but not in this timeline." A pause there is no ding, but there's also no buzzer.

"Jarvis?" A confused Tony asks the AI.

"I'm not sure what she means by this, sir."

"What do you mean, Maxine?" I look up and I feel tears threaten to fall.

"His name was Ethan, he- he was a rat for the MRD's in a distopian future; which, thanks to Wanda, isn't going to happen." I pause for a second and he gives me a look that says continue.

"He was my friend's boyfriend and, during an execution, shot her. He shot her in the coldness of his own heart, he had felt nothing for her, so I lost it. My mind broke; I attacked him and, in my anger, I tore his esophagus out with my claws." Tears that had welled up now pour over the sides of my eyelids.

"Um... I uh... I'm sorry for your loss." His awkward tone causes a hiccup in between my cries.

"It's ok, it never really happened in this timeline, that's what I was trying to say." He nods his head and scratches his beard. I probably seem unstable to him from the complete change in my tone; considering I just spoke about what had lain heavy on my heart for so long.

"I'm going to let you rest up for a while, and please take this opportunity to sleep or something because... You need it." He gets up and walks out of the room.I'm not going to sleep, just because Tony Stark told me to. In fact, I want to do a little sight seeing.

I get up and try to walk towards the door, but it's like my legs have been asleep too long. They wobble under my weight and I stumble, landing face first on the soft carpet. Thankfully it wasn't hard wood. Lifting my arms, I push myself up from the floor and use the wall to balance myself.

"You can do this, Maxine, just focus." I whisper to myself. My hands slid along the corner to the door handle and I pull down to push it open. After seeing no one in the hallway,  I continue down several corners until nausea overtakes me.

My little sister is alive! The idea still tumbles in my mind as I race to the room she's being kept in. Was it 113 or 131? Who knows, I'll just check both. I sweep into the emptiness of room 113, she's probably not in this one, then burst into room 131, where I'm confronted with the angry screams of Natasha Romanov. So much for stealth mode, I chuckle to myself.

So which one is it? The halls fly by me until I see something odd in one of them. I stop suddenly and return to see what was lingering in the hall to see a girl, strewn on the floor with a cold sweat on her brow.

"Maxi... oh my gosh, what happened to you?!" I crouch down to see that her eyelids are red and her skin is unusually pale.

"Oh, crap." There's a puddle of urp a couple feet away from her.

"Here we go..." I lift her up and run her back to room 113, now I realize this was her room. She lifts an eye slightly and closes it; at least she's alive.

"I'll get you some help, sis." I walk to the door and open it to see a large, black dog, with drooping amber eyes.

"Let me in." A voice says, so I turn to let the dog into the room, (she could use the company while I'm gone) and run off down the hallway to alert Tony Stark, the man currently looking to register mutants like me. I sigh, the things I do for family might surprise some.
