Chapter 4
My eyes opened as the sun rays hit them annoyingly. I rubbed my eyes and dove under the covers. Goosebumps arose on my skin from the new feeling of warmth that radiated through my body.
I loved sleeping with a passion. Sometimes I wished I wouldn't ever have to wake up again. My mind can get to be a very depressing place. It's not that I hate my life completely, it's just that sometimes it gets too overwhelming for me and I wish I didn't exist. I'm sure mostly everyone has those same thoughts as well at one point in their life. Or maybe it's just me. My mind is darker than the average person but somehow I'm still oblivious to a lot of things. I'm not oblivious to my emotions but sometimes I'll miss things that most people would spot in no time. Like when someone looks at me in a way that isn't normal, I never see it. Someone always has to point it out to me. I don't know, I'm just a complicated person I guess.
My thoughts were interrupted by a knock on my door.
"Jack is here with three other guys. They're asking if you want to go play basketball with them," my mom stated, her head peering through the door. What time was it?
I groaned looking over at the time and it said 2:15pm. Damn.
"Tell them I'll be right there," I replied and swiftly got up from bed to do my regular morning routine.
Once I was done I walked down to the kitchen, making myself a sandwich and then walked into the living room where the boys were waiting. They seriously took this loss to heart.
I didn't even say hi to them as I sat on the couch, changing the TV to Big Bang Theory.
I heard whispers from the other side of the couch and I knew they were taking about me. Out of all the voices, I heard Gilinsky whisper probably with the intention of me hearing him, "Don't worry. She's always rude."
I ignored his comment and continued to watch the show and eat my sandwich.
I heard snickers and I maintained to keep my face straight until I heard the most peculiar laugh I had ever heard in my life come from Nash. This made me lose it. I started cackling loudly. I have no idea why his laugh made me laugh so hard but it did.
"She's alive!" Cameron stated pointing at me and I continued laughing shaking my head.
I stood up to go get a drink since I had finished my sandwich. "Do any of you want anything?" I asked whilst my head was in the refrigerator.
I heard a bunch of no's so I just drank some juice and went back into the living room, "Alright. Who's ready to get their ass beat?" They all laughed and stood up from the couch to go outside. "Is your sister coming?" Nash asked.
I shook my head, "She's sleeping. I don't want to wake her."
They all nodded and we walked outside. Apparently I had to get in a car with these four guys. "I call shotgun!" I yelled.
"Not if I get there first," my soon to be stepbrother stated, sprinting towards the car. My eyes widened and I tried running as fast I could but he had already gotten a pretty decent start so I knew I had lost from before I even started running.
"You win this time Johnson," I stayed eyeing him evilly.
He laughed and Gilinsky hopped into the drivers seat. I'm guessing this was his car. Cameron opened the back seat for me and I slid in to the seat by the window. Cameron followed behind and then Nash.
Jack started the car and we were off. The radio was turned on to some rap music that I had heard maybe once or twice. I think the song was called M.A.A.D. City by Kendrick Lamar. His last name kind of sounds like Llama.
The boys were dancing in an irregular form and I just sat there laughing loudly. This was hilarious to watch.
"Well don't just sit there! Dance too!" Cameron stated, trying to move my arms in the way that he was moving them and I just shook my head and pulled my arms away, refusing to make myself look like a fool in front of all of them.
As you can tell I'm pretty shy around people I'm not comfortable with. A lot of people are like that, I feel. I'm sure if I hang around them more often I'll loosen up.
"We're here," Jack stated getting out of the car.
I made my way out of the car and walked towards the basketball court. The boys followed and Nash threw the basketball at me. I began warming up, dribbling the ball and throwing some in the basket, occasionally missing one or two.
"I have a preposition for you guys," I stated, getting their attention. They nodded as if saying go on. "The teams are gonna be Nash, Cameron, and both Jack's versus me. If I win, you guys have to take me out for ice cream and pay for it. If you guys win I'll buy you all ice cream." They thought about it for a few minutes and nodded, "Deal!"
I smirked and the game began. This was going to be loads easier since I didn't have to watch for my sister. I could win this thing in no time.
The game came pretty close but obviously I won. All the boys were sitting there dumbfounded as to how in the world they just got singlehandedly beaten by a girl that's significantly shorter than all of them. I just laughed and shrugged my shoulders, "Are we gonna go get my ice cream now or what?" I ran towards the car and got shotgun.
They came towards the car moping and complaining. It was just a game. I don't see why they're so down about it. I guess it's their pride that's hurt.
"How?" Jack stated as he came in the drivers seat. I shrugged my shoulders, "Girls can play too."
"It's not even that. You're just so short... And there was no one on the team with you!" he explained. I just laughed, "You mad?"
He shook his head and laughed. I looked at him as he smiled to himself and my heart couldn't help but flutter a little bit. His smile was absolutely beautiful. It actually made me smile too, causing him to ask, "What?" I just shook my head, "Nothing."
We arrived at the ice cream shop and I told the guy what I wanted and he put it down on the machine. I giggled slightly as I saw the boys still shaking their heads. "You guys seem down in the dumps. What's up?" the guy behind the register asked. They all looked at me and I explained, "They're just in a sour mood because I beat them single handedly at basketball." This caused the guy to laugh and then he stopped, trying to be sympathetic towards the boys, "Oh, that's terrible." He stifled a laugh and I started laughing so loud that people were starting to look at me weirdly so I covered my mouth and laughed as lowly as I could.
"It's not funny," Gilisnky stated as he paid for the ice cream.
"You're right," I paused, "It's hilarious!"
The rest of the boys went to go sit down at a table still laughing a little bit and I went to go get napkins and a spoon.
"I think what you did was pretty hot," a voice came behind me and goosebumps arose on my skin. I looked to my right and Gilisnky was right there. Face to face.
I backed up a little bit as my heart started beating a million times per second and I just nodded.
"Can I show you something later on tonight?" he asked, reaching for a napkin but still looking at me and his lips came dangerously close to mine. I held my breath until he had grabbed the napkin and I breathed out, "What is it?"
"It's a surprise. But just keep in mind that I've never shown it to anyone before," he explained. My eyebrows furrowed and I asked, "Why are you choosing to show me?"
"Simple. Because you're different."

Oooooh. (; How do you think I'm doing? Am I doing absolutely terrible or am I tolerable? Lol I hope I'm tolerable. Let me know! I read everything O.O Also, what do you think Jack has to show her? -nudge- -nudge- See you next time. (:
