Chapter 3
We came in through the door and my mom was dressed in a beautiful black and white dress. Her jet black hair that was always in a bun was let down and formed loose curls making her look breathtaking. Why was my mother so gussied up? There must be a reason.
"Girls, I picked out dresses from your closet that you guys can wear for this evening," she instructed. I looked down at Rose who was just as confused as me. I bent down to her level and whispered, "Wait for me in the room and I'll help you get your dress on alright?" I smiled at her and she nodded, doing as she was told.
I got back up and looked at my mom, "What is all this for?"
She sighed, "I met a guy at work. We've been talking for quite a few months and I think things are getting pretty serious so I wanted him to meet my two favorite, most precious girls in my life."
I smiled. I was happy for her. I truly was. She deserves someone who can make her happy.
"He has a son. Maybe you guys could get along," she stated. I'd be having a step brother.
"What's his name?" I asked genuinely wanting to know.
"His son or him?" She questioned.
"Both," I replied, even though I just wanted to know his sons name but knowing his name wouldn't be all that bad either.
"The guys name is Jeff and his son is Jack," she stated. My eyes grew big and wide. Jack? As in Jack Gilinsky?
"Jack?" I questioned, "Jack Gilinsky?"
"No," she replied, "His last name is Johnson."
I sighed in relief and thanked the heavens up above. I don't know what I would've done if he ended up having to be my step brother. Living under the same roof as me. I shivered at the thought.
I nodded and stated, "We'll I'm gonna go help Rose with her dress. And by the way. I think you look beautiful."
She smiled and thanked me as I walked towards my sisters room.
"Hey baby," I said as I came in the room. I laughed at the sight. She had one arm in an armhole and she was trying to fit her head in the other armhole. It was extremely amusing.
"Here, let me help you."
I came towards her and put on the dress the correct way and she thanked me.
"I'm not a baby anymore."
"Hm. You're right. But you'll always be my baby," I countered making her smile and nod in agreement.
Once she was done I got dressed as well. I had on a red and black dress, my hair was let down and I even had simple makeup put on my face. I felt really girly which is not something I'm used to. I didn't necessarily like it but I didn't hate it either, if that makes any sense.
"You girls ready?" My mom yelled from the kitchen.
"Yeah we'll be right down!" I replied, taking Rose by the hand and leading her downstairs.
We went to the car and drove off.
We arrived at the restaurant and it was extremely fancy. I wasn't very used to eating at places like this. Burger King was my idea of dining like a King. I'm kidding. But you catch my drift.
We entered the restaurant and a man in about his thirties, blonde hair, and green eyes came towards us and a dirty blonde guy was behind him.
"Hello Grace, are these your daughters?" The man asked.
