The Wilted Rose

Three days later

Ruby's POV
I woke up, yawned and rubbed my eye remembering Mom was coming home today. I instantly smiled and ran downstairs excited.

"Hey why you so excited today Ruby?"

"Dad!, Mom is coming home today!"

"Oh right I forgot about that."

'What time is she coming home?"

"I don't know, but she said she'd be home today."

"Ok."

I waited to see when Mom would come home. It was lunch and she wasn't home, I still waited, soon it was time for dinner she wasn't home yet.I decided to bake some cookies with Dad for when she got home. We got done, she still wasn't home. I was sad hoping she would get here soon. Pretty soon it was time for bed. I didn't want to go to bed, I wanted Mom to be home. After some time Dad told me "she was probably missed the boat and had to wait till tomorrow". I was still worried and headed to bed.

The next day

I woke up and went downstairs seeing if Mom came home. I went down she wasn't there, I looked up stairs and didn't see her. I wanted her to come home. I want to see her. I was sad and went back upstairs to my room locked the door and started crying. Later Dad came up and knocked on my door.

"Ruby?"

"Ruby are you ok?"

.................

"Ruby?"

.................

"GO AWAY DAD!"

I didn't hear anything for a few seconds, then I heard him walk away. I didn't want to talk to anyone. I didn't want to see anyone. I only wanted to see Mom.

Night time

I must've fallen asleep from crying because I don't remember do anything. I unlocked the door and went downstairs I saw Dad on the couch with Yang and they must've heard me because they turned around. Dad ran over and hugged me.

"Ruby i'm sorry I bothered you earlier."

'No i'm sorry I yelled at you, you just wanted see if I was ok. I didn't mean to yell, I was just upset."

"It's alright Ruby. Why don't you have something eat, you have been asleep the whole entire day."

"Ok"

I was feeling better after I ate and watched tv with Dad and Yang. After a while there was a knock at the door. When Dad opened the door Winter and Weiss were standing there but they looked nervous.

"Hello, Winter and Weiss. Come on in."
"Thank you Taiyang."

"What are you here for, visiting?"
"Not exactly. I have some new about Summer."

"Really?"
"Yes, but..."

"But what?"

After they told us what happened I started crying, I didn't want to believe it was true, I thought it was just a dream but it wasn't. Winter and Weiss sat there for a little bit, then Weiss came over to me and hugged me.

"You will be ok Ruby."

I hugged her back and said "Thank you, I feel a little bit better."

"Ruby why don't we play a game for a bit."

"Sure I would like that."

We went upstairs to play a game, While Winter was comforting Dad to calm him down. They stayed for a few days helping us with housework and keeping Dad in good spirits.

Few days after Summer's death

We went out and got a gravestone for Mom and put it in her favorite spot on Patch. A lot of people from the island came and placed flowers and said prayers. It was a kinda sad day, but also a nice day.
