Prologue
Lauren's Point of View:
Journal Entry #1:
Well it's the first day of my college experience. Mom told me to write in this journal everyday, to keep track of my amazing time in college. I can't believe it's finally the day. Nicole Rivers, my best friend in Australia, is attending this college with me. We were psyched when we both got accepted. I wanted to leave my home in Missouri so bad, I couldn't stand being here anymore. America wasn't my home, well technically it was, when I moved here for my dad's job at sixteen. But now, I'll be moving back to Australia where I grew up.. And I'm extremely excited. And now that I'm officially eighteen, I live under my own rules. This is about to be the best experience ever.
As I put my journal away in my suitcase, I finished packing all my belongings. Mom walked into my small lime green bedroom, looking around.
"Crazy to think how after today this won't be your house anymore." My mother said as she rested her hand on her baby bump. As for my mom, she was pregnant with her fourth kid. I was the oldest child out of my two other siblings, soon to be three.
"I know, I honestly cannot wait to leave here."
"Aren't you gonna miss us?" she asked, pouting. Jeez, her mood swings were insane.
I nodded. "Well yeah, you guys are my family. But I really do miss Australia. Maybe eventually you guys can move back?" I said with a hopeful smile plastered across my face.
My mother laughed. "Oh honey, I wish we could. I miss Australia too. But we've been doing a lot better here financially since we moved to America. But, maybe someday though,"
I signed. "Yeah. Maybe someday."
"Anyways, you should finish getting ready."
"Okay mom," I smiled sadly, thinking about how much my life was going to change after today.
With that, my mother left the room. Just as I was about to get up, my fourteen year old sister barged into my bedroom, with tears running down her face.
"Lauren!" she wailed.
Feeling my eyes water, I walked over to her and crushed her in a bear hug.
"Paige, please don't cry. You're gonna make me cry." I laughed lightly as I hugged my younger sister.
"I don't want you to leave! Now who am I gonna tell all my boyfriend problems to?" she sniffled.
I sadly smiled. "Mom,"
"Ew," Paige said in disgust, "she can't help. She's old."
I playfully pushed my sister away from me. "You're mean,"
"It's true!" she laughed, wiping the tears that has fallen down her cheeks.
"See, now you're laughing." I pointed out.
"Yeah, but I still don't want you to leave." she frowned.
"But I'm going back home, to Australia! Isn't that exciting?" I asked.
"Take me with you?" Paige grinned.
I shook my head. "Then what would you do about school?"
"I can disguise as a freshman in college! I mean technically, I am a freshman."
"Yeah, in high school." I laughed.
"I know, I know. I am really gonna miss you though. You're my favorite sister," Paige half smiled.
"I'm you're only sister, you dummy," I said.
"But I'm about to have another sister! And you're my favorite." she said, giving me a thumbs up.
"How do you know moms baby is even a girl? She's waiting until it's born to find out the gender." I asked my crazy fourteen year old sister.
"I'm just assuming," she assumed. "I also think she's gonna look like dad, since me, you, and Mitch look like mom."
"You have a crazy imagination, you know that? And speaking of Mitch, where is the little rascal? He hasn't even said goodbye to me yet." I wondered, since I hadn't seen my little brother all morning.
"Probably sleeping, no nine year old is gonna be up this early in the morning." Paige laughed.
"It's almost eight o'clock," I told her. I was definitely an early bird, sleeping in was just something I couldn't get myself to do.
"Exactly," Paige mumbled while laughing. Without another word, she left, probably to go wake up my brother.
Minutes after she left, she came back in, but this time she wasn't alone.
"Mitch!" I smiled widely, "did you wake up this early just for me?"
The exhausted nine year old yawned loudly. "No,"
"Tired kid," Paige mumbled.
"Come on Mitch, I'm leaving today. Aren't you gonna miss me?" I asked.
He nodded, walking over towards me and sitting next to me on my bed. "Yeah. You're the only person left in this house who hasn't gone completely bananas,"
I laughed lightly at his choice of words. "Well then maybe you can guide mom, dad, and Paige in the right direction so they don't go bananas too."
"Too late. They already have," Mitch mumbled tiredly.
"Hey!" Paige yelled.
I smiled and laughed. "I love you guys so much,"
Paige came and sat next to us. I hugged them both tightly, seeming to never want to let go.
When I let go of them, I grabbed the rest of my suitcases, and followed them out of my bedroom. Right as we stopped at the bottom of the steps, my dad hugged me tightly. That was the thing about my family, we were always hugging.
"Gosh Lauren, you're my little girl. And now you're all grown up."
"Aw dad, I don't want you crying too."
"I can't help it," he sadly smiled as he pulled away from the hug.
"I know. But I'll be back for my first vacation, so it'll only be a few months without seeing me. And, I'll call every few days."
Just as I said that, my mom walked into the room. "Everyday, actually."
I rolled my eyes. "Okay."
My parents had always been really strict, but not to the point where they were controlling. It's not like I ever got in any kind of trouble, so I could handle them.
"We should get going now. Don't wanna miss your flight." my mother smiled sadly.
"Yeah," I nodded slowly, returning the smile.
My family helped me with my luggage, as we walked out our front door. Just before we piled up into our mini van, I looked back one last time at the house I had been living in for two years.
This was it. I was going back home.
College, here comes Lauren Bailey.

A/N: wow new Michael fanfic. I'm honestly so excited to write this. I've had the idea for over a year, I just didn't think I would ever write it. But now I am so yay! And by the way, I have no idea how college works in Australia so I'm just gonna do it the way school works in America.. Like you start in September and get like thanksgiving and winter breaks and yeah.. But I will be going with how the seasons work in Australia, since they're opposite from how America is. So if it's wrong, just bear with me lol. So yeah, vote and comment! (:
