The Date

Damn Hunter.

Eldon glared daggers at Hunter from across Culture Shock. Hunter thought he was so cool, with his stupid hair and his stupid eyes and his stupid grin and his stupid new relationship with Michelle. The previous day Eldon had seen them together on a date and it had taken all his self control to walk out calmly.

As he watched, Michelle approached Hunter and started talking. Hunter offered her his arm and Michelle took it. They walked out of the room together.

Naturally, Eldon followed.

Eldon trailed a few steps behind Michelle and Hunter as they left the building. He followed them as they walked through the park, past the river, and finally settled at a picnic table that had obviously been set in advance. Eldon ground his teeth. No matter how much he hated Hunter, he had to admit, Hunter knew how to set up a date.

Damn.

Eldon snuck closer and hid behind a tree. Annoyingly, they looked like they were enjoying themselves.

"So Michelle," Hunter began with a cocky smile. "Just wondering, how's Eldon?"

Eldon raised an eyebrow. What? Interesting choice of topic.

Michelle coughed, surprised. "Um, I mean, he's good...I guess. We haven't really spoken at all...really. Much. Recently. Yeah so. How's Emily?" She finished in a rush, voice strained.

Hunter laughed. "Emily? What about her?"

"I just kinda noticed you'd been spending a lot of time togeth--What's that?"

Eldon almost hurt himself ducking back behind the tree. She had seen him.

"What's what?"

"I thought I just saw...never mind."

Eldon exhaled in relief. He waited a few seconds, then risked another glance. He shouldn't have.

Hunter leaned forward, towards Michelle. Eldon didn't stick around to see what happened next.
