Halloween

Through the twisted limbs of the bare oak trees,
I walk on by, crunching dead leaves.
The winds are full of mournful shrieks,
By the the inky, black ravens and the trees old age creeks.

The skies are darkening and the winds picking up,
But soon I'll be home with a bit of luck.
I don't stop when a witch cackles at me,
Or a small, little ghost springs from a tree.

I waste no time on the ghouls and the ghast,
I can see my gate I'm home at last.
But as I unlock my door I'm suddenly surrounded,
All behind me the monsters have crowded.

I have no other option I must turn around,
But then they shout the very worst sound.
"Trick or treat" the monsters yell,
I feel like I'm in the pits of Hell.

I have no treats to make them go away,
So I slowly shake my head but they're gonna make me pay.
They begin to chant, "Trick" in their gruffest voices,
I know that I'm out of all other choices.

I throw open my door and just make it inside,
As the flour and eggs hit my door and collide.
I really hate Halloween,
It's just an excuse for kids to be mean.

But now I am safe from the neighbourhood fear,
At least that is, until next year.
