Chapter 8: Siblings and Such

Elora rode in the front of the three. Edmund kept looking behind them.

"What's wrong, King Edmund?" She asked, he shook his head.

"Nothing is wrong. I am just expecting Susan to be riding after us and making a whole troop go with us." He said, causing Peter and Elora to both start laughing.

"I'm sure if she was going to do that she would probably have already." Peter said. Elora snorted.

"You don't speak so highly of your sister, my kings?" Edmund shrugged and scratched his head.

"Well, Su is great. But at times she can be a bit-"

"Bossy." Peter put in. Edmund nodded slowly.

"My sister is the same way." Elora said softly. Edmund looked at her closely.

"You have a sister?" He asked. She nodded.

"Yes, she lives in Archenland. She's seven years older than me, but she practically raised me after our parents died." She answered quietly. Edmund looked sad.

"Oh, I'm sorry." He asked, Elora shrugged it off.

"I'm alright. My mother died when I was ten, and my father died when I was twelve."

"And how old are you now?" Edmund asked curiously. Elora looked ahead as she encouraged her horse to walk across a small creek.

"Seventeen." She answered. Edmund nodded and his horse also crossed.

But Peter's horse, Princesa Caballo, froze, after much encouragement the horse crossed the creek.

"Why did I get the worst horse?" Peter muttered. Edmund laughed and stuck his tongue out at his older brother.

"Because you, sleeping beauty, slept in." Edmund teased Peter rolled his eyes and ignored his younger brother.

"Alright. Alright. I understand now." Peter said after Edmund teased him about being a sleepy head.

Elora smiled, she remembered when Rain was fun like this, before her parents died and Rain had to work hard just to get one meal on the table a day.

Edmund seemed to see her sad expression.

"Is something wrong?" He asked, looking around. Elora shook her head.

"No. I'm alright. Come, we have to keep going. We'll be to my village by nightfall if we go a bit faster." She explained. Edmund nodded in agreement and Peter soon followed suit and the three of them went off.
