Elora walked slowly down this never ending trail. It seemed to keep going on and on. But she realized she was still going just as strongly as she was when she had decided to first walk down it.
Finally she came to a clearing. A lion sat in the middle she watched it carefully. It turned to her and watched her just as silently as she watched it.
"My darling girl, come and why do you tremble in fear." It said, Elora blinked and walked closer. When she was close enough she hugged the lion. She clung to the golden fur and mane like it was her only source of life.
"Oh, Aslan. Am I in your country."
"Not quite, not quite, I have a job for you first." He said his voice was filled with such love and compassion Elora's fear fled quickly.
"Oh. May I hear it?" She asked.
Aslan chuckled and licked her nose.
"Not now, child. Soon though." He said, Elora was silent.
"Oh Aslan it is good to see you!" She said after a brief silence, she hugged his neck tightly. She had only met Aslan when she was a young girl about nine, when her parents were yet alive.
"You too, Elora." The way he said her name made her want to dance and shout with joy.
She was silent, content with just sitting in the lions large paws. She didn't know how long she sat with him in silence. It could have been mere seconds or it could have been days. She didn't know what she did know was she eventually heard Aslan whisper into her ear.
"Courage, dear heart. I will reveal myself to you."
With that the lion was gone.
Elora didn't know if she wanted to weep or dance so she didn't do either. She just sat in the green grass and smiled to herself.
Courage, dear heart. Courage, dear heart. Courage....
The words repeated themselves in her head until she felt as if she drifted into a deep sleep then out of it again. She heard Edmund quietly say.
"Elora, please wake up."
