Drake's POV
Another week has passed and Sydney seemed to have found a place for Jules and him to live. Gabriel seemed to be relieved, thinking it would be more relaxing for me, although I'm not sure if it's the last time we'll see Sydney and Jules. I'm sure Sydney would probably barge in here now and then. Gabriel will definitely not be pleased if that happens... Although it's not hard to not please Gabriel. He easily gets annoyed and isn't easily pleased at all. I guess I can somewhat keep him pleased, after all he seems to be pretty relaxed as long as I am around him. Especially when we are alone he seems to be in a better mood.
"Thank the Gods.... It's finally peaceful around here without Sydney ." Gabriel said with a sigh, looking pretty content. I grinned and shook my head. "Well, you sure are glad he isn't around anymore. Too bad the peace and quiet will be over in a few months." I said with a smirk. Gabriel looked slightly confused when I said that, raising an eyebrow. "Why? Did he tell you he would visit in a few months...?" He asked. I sighed and shook my head. "No, Gabe, that's not it." I told him. "Look at me. I can't believe you seem to have forgotten I'm carrying our child." I said with a chuckle. "Or did you forget how I looked without this big belly. I'm getting bigger and bigger after all. I just wanted to remind you I'm not just getting fat." I said amused. Gabriel huffed. "I didn't forget." He muttered. "And you're definitely not fat."
I laughed softly. "I'm glad you think so." I said softly. "I hope you know what I meant with this place not being peaceful anymore in a few months." I said said amused. Gabriel grinned and shook his head. "A baby makes less noise than Sydney." He said, sounding a bit serious though. I chuckled softly and then I shook my head. "You really don't seem to get along too well with your brother." "He's only my half-brother, but then again I guess that doesn't really matter. Gabrielle and I had a similar relation." He said, mentioning his twin sister. I wondered if he and Gabrielle used to fight often... Gabrielle is definitely more playful than Gabe, but probably a lot less than Sydney. "Sounds like you didn't really have good relations with your sibling and half siblings." I said softly. "Not really, I could get along well with Maria, but that has been years ago. At least she wasn't an idiot like most of my siblings." He said amused. I shook my head with a grin. "Well, I'm suddenly glad I don't have any siblings."
"So you are the only son of the vampire king?" He asked me. "Yes, I'm the only son of the vampire king. My mother hadn't been able to conceive another child and eventually my father felt like it was okay. Since vampires have mates we'll have to be loyal to our mates. Father couldn't ask someone else to conceive another or back-up heir to the throne." I explained to him. "Hm, I wonder how you father would react to his grandson." He mumbled. "And your mother? Is she still alive..?" He suddenly asked me. I blinked when he asked me about my mother. "Well, she's alive, although not to the public." Gabriel raised an eyebrow. "What do you mean by that?" "She's hidden somewhere. People thought she had died during the war. Only my people know she's alive, but the surrounding kingdoms don't know that." I mumbled, rubbing the back of my head a bit. "I know the story sounds weird, but my mother has a powerful voice and if there will be another war then she wanted to be used as a secret weapon." I said with a sigh. "Hm... Sounds like a complicated strategy..." He mumbled.
"But to answer your question, I think father would probably be a bit angry, but also glad to have a grandchild, you know? A heir is always a good thing. My mother however is going to be thrilled. She always wanted to be a grandmother... We should be careful that she doesn't spend more time with our child than she does." He said with a chuckle. Gabriel grinned. "Well, at least our child will have a protective family. He or she is going to be loved by everyone." He said and then he gently rubbed my belly. I smiled sweetly and then I sighed, feeling relaxed.
