~~~~Hitomi's pov~~~
Another crack was heard as the whip hit my small body again. The sweaty man with a scruffy beard got right up in my face. The strong smell of liquor on his breath enter my nose as he breathed in my face. He brought his grubby hand to my chin. Getting annoyed and the close proximity I spat in his face, causing him to slap my cheek.
"You little bitch, you're lucky your time with me is up for today, but just you wait until tomorrow." He spoke in a gravely voice.
He undid the chains from the roof and started dragging me to my cell. We passed many cells with other people or animals in them. I hurt me to see this every day knowing they went through the same pain I did. We made it to my cell and the man pushed me in causing me to fall, gaining a large scrape on my leg and arm. I laid on the cold, stone ground. I heard the man leave, so I dragged myself up and sat in a corner.
"You alright Hitomi?" Rico worried in his soft gentle voice.
"Yea I'll be okay," I responded through my mind. Which we did considering Rico and I were bound
Together, meaning he was in my body you could say.
"I promise I'll get you out of here." He reassured me.
I nodded believing in him. I always had faith in Rico, he always did whatever he could to protect me. He's been with me ever since I can remember. I don't know when we got bound together nor why. All I knew was he's always been with me and I can always trust him.
My attention was drawn to a loud crash.
"Child now's your chance to escaped, see that shiny thing just outside your cell pick it up." Rico rushes.
I went over to see a pin. I reached my hand out, nearly got, just a little further. I finally got it and pulled my arm back in. I looked at the pin and quickly figured out what Rico wanted me to do. I went to the lock and began to pick the lock. It took awhile and a lot of fiddling but I got it open. I snuck out remembering what my parents told me about being a ninja. I was getting closer to the entrance but I felt a sharp pain run through my back.
"HITOMI!" Rico shouted.
I turned around to see the man who tortured me. I pushed aside my pain and kicked his knees causing him to fall. I started sprinting to the entrance and made it out. However I didn't stop running, I needed to get as much distance between me and that hideout as possible. I was not going back there, I'd rather die. I continued to run, my determination never wavered. However, the pain in my back got worse. I refused to stop despite Rico worried comments. It didn't matter how bad the pain was I just wanted to stay free.
I've been running for days without stopping. I felt weak and tired and extreme pain was radiating from my back. I was struggling to keep running but continued nonetheless. Rico continued to try and get me to rest. But despite my better judgment to listen to him I kept going. All of the sudden my vision went blurry and I could see black blobs. I went crashing to the ground and couldn't move. My body went cold, my heart race was up and my breathing was unsteady. I slowly let the world around me disappear unable to hear Rico shouting at me to stay awake.
