~~~~Mamoru's pov~~~~
Kunai came raining down on us, I prepared to block them but some kind of barrier surrounded me and the kunai bounced off me. The barrier disappeared and I turned around to check on Hitomi to see her falling to the ground. I caught her and held her close to me. The two ninja jumped down and came towards us kunai in their hands. I held Hitomi closer. I won't let them hurt her, I will die before I let that happen. They came closer and were about to strike. I used my body a shield over Hitomi and closed my eyes and readied myself for the impact, but it never came. Instead a warm calming feeling engulfed us. I opened my eyes to see a green light engulfed us and the two ninja were on the ground out cold. The green light began to disappear and one word came to my mind.
"Rico?" I whispered.
The green light was gone and I looked down at Hitomi to see she looked a lot more worn out then she did before. I sighed and leaned her against a tree and went to the out cold ninja and grabbed their scroll to see it was an earth scroll. Thank kami. I walked back to Hitomi and I couldn't help but think she looked a lot like my mum. I pulled out a picture I had of my mum when she was a kid and compared her and Hitomi. Hitomi was the spitting image of my mum. She can't possibly be my little sister can she? I thought she died when mum did, but it's possible. I'll have to ask my uncle when I can. I picked up Hitomi and began running to the tower that we needed to go.
~~~~Hitomi's pov~~~~
My eyes slowly opened and I was laying on Rico. I gave him a weak smile and snuggles into his warm fur. I felt extremely drained and I didn't know why, using the amount of chakra I did shouldn't have made me feel this drained. I closed my eyes I snuggled more into Rico's fur. I felt him nudge me, I groaned not wanting to open my eyes. He nudged me again and I reluctantly opened my eyes and looked at him.
"I've got something to tell you." Rico said to me seriously.
I sat up and looked at him.
"I was hoping to hold off on tell you this for awhile longer but with what's happened and the amount you've grown I've got no other choice than to tell you." He said trying to delay the news.
"Okay, can you just get to the point I'm tired and wanna sleep." I said with a yawn.
"Well you real last name is Hayashi, and you're actually the princess of the Hayashi clan, which makes you Mamoru's sister." He said quickly.
I blankly stared at Rico processing the information. Hayashi. Mamoru's sister. Princess of the Hayashi clan.
"3 2 1." Rico counted back.
"THE FUCK THAT'S NOT POSSIBLE!" I screamed.
"Yes it is." Rico said.
"But Mamoru said his mum died along with his unborn sister." I countered.
He just looked at me and was about to say something but before he could anything my surroundings morphed in to something else.
I was back at the scene with the weak mother holding her dead baby with a green light that formed a creature that looked kinda like Rico.
"Why have you called on I the spirit of this forest, Rico?" He voice held authority I didn't know Rico had.
"Please, I beg you please save my daughter. I'll do anything even give my life. Just please save her." The woman pleaded weakly with tears in her eyes.
"Why should I save that child?" Rico asked.
"Because she was only just born. She has her whole life ahead of her." She said.
Rico paused for awhile observing the two.
"Very well, I'll save your child. But it seems you life is slipping away." He spoke.
"Yes, may I ask before I leave. Can you name her Hitomi, and don't let her know until she's ready that her last name is Hayashi." The woman asked her eyes dulling.
"Very well, you may pass on to the afterlife knowing I will protect this child with my life." Rico said.
The woman became limp and her body fell. Rico walked up to the child and placed his large nose on her face. He morphed into his large physical form before he once again turned into green light. The green light entered the baby and she began to move. He eyes opened to show bright green eyes that shone, they were just like her mothers. The baby began to cry. Soon an elderly woman walked by hold a basket of herbs. I looked at her and my eyes slightly widened, that's my adoptive mum. The elderly woman pick up the child and walked away.
The scene around me went back to the midnight forest and I was frozen in place. That child was me. That's the beginning of my story. I was born dead, Rico saved me. My biological mother died giving birth to me. I killed her. The reason Mamoru grew up without a mother was my fault. I'm a monster. Tears filled my eyes and I clutched my head and fell to the ground.
I heard heavy footsteps coming to me the I felt something tap my head. I looked up and saw Rico. He nuzzled me and tears kept falling.
"I-its m-my fault." I chocked out through my sobs.
Rico nuzzled me.
"No it's not, you mother was happy when she died knowing you could live a happy life." Rico said calmly.
Tears still ran down my face and I hugged Rico burying my face in his fur. My eyes slowly closed and I welcome the much needed sleep.
