HER WHOLE BODY ACHED FROM being hit and dragged all over the place like a porcelain doll. She couldn't even tell if the feeling of numbness all across her limbs was even real or just in her head, either way, she was glad that she couldn't feel her mutant collar digging into her throat.

Shouting was heard outside of the room as a woman's voice protested against her captors. Ajax had said something about retrieving Wade's ex-girlfriend to gain the upper hand. The door slammed open and Vanessa was thrown to floor, unable to catch herself because of her bound wrists. Angel glared at the both of them before slamming the door shut and leaving them alone in the dark.

"So, you're the famous Vanessa that Mista Pool never shuts up about." Marley said with a smile, causing Vanessa's head to shoot up to her direction. There seemed to be an ounce of jealousy in her tone that she hoped the brunette hadn't heard. The voice scoffed, 'I wanna rip her stupid extensions out and shove them down her throat! Although, she is quite cute.'

Marley rolled her eyes at that remark.

Vanessa took in Marley's ragged appearance, noticing the blonde's wounds and her tied up hands. She realised that Marley was also a kidnapped victim of Ajax. "What's your name? Why did he take you too?"

Marley laughed, though it sounded forceful and tired, "The same reason he took you. To get to Wade."

"But Wade's dead. He had cancer and he left me so that I didn't have to see him waste away." Vanessa exclaimed in denial, she hadn't heard anything from him since he'd left her. What else was she supposed to assume, he hadn't had much time left anyway.

"And then he went to Francis to get cured, where he met me and then we found out he lied to us and mutated us. So we fought back and went through his crew one by one until we found him again. He took me away and here I am rotting away in a dark room...with you." The blonde's voice was strained and she she shifted uncomfortably on the floor, trying to soothe ache in her tailbone. "Francis only took you because he knows Wade will do anything to get you back." 

"And what about you? What are you to Wade?" There was no sign of jealousy in Vanessa's voice, it sounded more concerned than anything. Surely the escort would hold some sort of grudge against the blonde for shacking it up with her man.

"Not enough." Marley whispered, almost inaudibly.

Vanessa's eyes widened in realisation and her expression softened with empathy, "You're in love with him."

"What?!"

'You heard what she said, dummy!'

The brunette repeated, even more sure than before, "You're in love with Wade. You want to be with him."

"Like that could ever happen." Marley scoffed, rolling her eyes. She refused to believe that Wade would ever love her back. "Puddin' would never choose me over you, that's why Francis took the both of us. Either way, Wade will watch one of us die and it's gonna be me."
