I knock on the door of Michelle's house. Her father invited me for dinner and I couldn't really refuse to that offer.

He is my only hope at getting my life back together but with that is a price to pay.

"Hello, James," He greets with a warm smile.

He's wearing his business suit and I look down at my own outfit. It does not look impressive.

I shake his hand and enter the house, it's like a mansion compared to everyone else's house in the city.

I cross over to the dining room and find only two chairs placed opposite each other, "Where's Michelle?" I ask in a confused tone

"She's gone shopping with her mother but she has given us permission to eat without them," He answers, taking a seat.

I nervously take a seat as well and place my hands on my lap, my foot taps uncontrollably on the floor.

A server comes and brings in the food and I thank them politely.

"So, I've seen your application to join my company. It's not the best but I can see you are trying," He says honestly.

"Thank you, sir," I mutter

"Here's the deal, James. I know that I may not see you as a boy who is capable of helping my daughter in life but you make her happy and that's all I can ask for," Michelle's Dad smiles at me from across the table.

If that's true, how can she be happy but I don't feel happy. The only reason I dated Michelle was so that her Dad would give me a position in his company. I thought that if I tried, I would learn to like Michelle but I can't.

I could break her heart so I can be happy. I can break my heart so I can start a new life.

What's more important to me? My heart or my future?

"If everything is fine with Michelle and yourself, I will happily give you a position in my advertising section of the company,"

He extends his hand out to seal a deal.

My future or my heart?

I take a deep breath and look down at my bowl of soup, I search deep in my thoughts and finally I come to a decision.

Without further hesitation, I shake his hand.
