Chapter 6

It's been so long since we've had our last mission abroad. I wonder why, were we not good enough? Did we fail the mission? Was there something else we had to do? I didn't know. But it's been a year since we joined the group. Kitani and I turned fourteen while Hachiro turned thirteen. Kitani decided that he would give me extra fighting lessons since the Chunin exams were coming soon. "Okay little kitten, you've got to start fighting like a panther now. Now, lets say you have lost all your chakra including your Neko and demon chakra, the enemy is running towards your with a kunai knife in his hand, make your move," At that very same moment Kitani was running towards me with a kunai knife, so I took three shurikens out and threw them at him, he dodged the attack of the shuriken with his kunai knife and kept on running. I took out the long steel katana that was waiting to be used and unsheathed it. When I turned to face him I saw that he wasn't there. "K-Kitani?" I stammered, sheathing my katana. Little did I know that the Sound Village Ninja were putting up a trap, and had abducted Kitani. "KURO GET OUT OF THERE, RUN NOW!!!" I heard him yell, which was soon muffled by a sleeve. I got scared. More scared than I have ever been. "KURO. RUN. NOW!" I turned and started running, not home, but to Kakashi Sensei. I tugged on his sleeve and he looked confused at me. "K-Kitani's in t-t-trouble!" I stuttered pulling him behind me as I ran back into the open space of grass. "Don't worry little kitten, I see him. You four, protect her, there going after her." The others surrounded me, their kunai knives in hand. "I-I'm sorry... Itachi....Shisui...mom...dad..." I sat down an buried my face in my knees as I started to have little streams come rolling down my cheeks. Naruto was staring at me, curious to know who I was talking about. "I'm sorry... Kitani...." I sniffled. Naruto didn't let his guard down, but gave me a small pat on the head. "It's going to be okay Kuro! Kakashi will get Kitani in no time! Believe it!" I put my hands in a jutsu sign and closed my eyes. "TRANSFORMATION ANIMAGI JUTSU!" I whispered. I turned into a black kitten and hid in the long grass of the field. I was picked up by Sasuke Uchiha, the boy who almost choked me, and cradled me in his arms. "We gotta care for our members, so don't you dare tell anyone that this is happening. Hopefully you're the only girl here that doesn't have a crush on me." He sighed. I mewed and nodded slightly. "WE GOT HIM!!!" I turned back into my original self and ran to Kakashi, but skidded to a halt to see Kitani bruised and scarred. My eyes widened as he grinned and chuckled, waving at me. "I'm alright Kuro. Don't worry about me," He chuckled, I ran up to him and gave him a tight hug. Tears continued to fall down my cheeks, but Kitani pulled away and cupped my face, wiping the tears away with his thumbs. "I promised to protect you, and I never go back on my word, that is my Nindo. My ninja way, and you know it. So please don't cry over me, I did this to protect you, and I succeeded, but I'm okay. Sure I have a couple scratches, but it's nothing, it doesn't hurt me whatsoever, I promise you it doesn't hurt."
