*DAMON*

"Damon!" I heard Elena yelling below me. I peered down at her standing on the ground far below me. "Damon, come down here."

"No," I raised my voice for the human to hear. The human that I should currently be house hunting with. I should be living the perfect life with her but instead she's yelling at me to come down from my position, sitting down with a bottle of Bourbon and my legs dangling off the small ledge.

"Why?" She yelled.

I shrugged, "I can't undo what I did-"

"For goodness sake Damon, just come down already," she yelled. I saw the unhappy look that I'm all too used to seeing. I gave in and came down so I was a few metres from her. "I'm not going to lecture you. I'm not going to yell anymore. I know that you were being controlled by the psychics. I just can't simply forget about it. Jeremy was the only family member I had left. I have no family anymore."

I held up the bottle of bourbon and said, "You have me." She snatched the bottle of bourbon from my hand and chugged a good amount of it before handing it back. "You might have given up on me but I will never give up on you." I set the bottle of bourbon down and cupped her face in my hands. "I will always love you."

She grasped my wrists and removed my hands from her face. "I can't," she whispered. "I need more time to adapt to this."

She started to walk away when I shouted, "I have waited 20 years to hold you in my arms and kiss you and show you that I still love you the same way I did 20 God damned years ago." She stopped walking and turned to face me. "20 God damn years! Maybe I did go off the rails. I lost my best friend, Bonnie. I lost my brother. I lost the girl that I love. I lost my mind, Elena." She looked at me with a sick smile on her face. I said, "You don't want to be held in my arms. You don't want to even speak to me. It was hard Elena! I wanted to be there to kiss you when you woke but-"

She rushed towards me and cupped my face in her hands and kissed me. I wrapped my arms around her waist. God, I've missed her lips on mine. We both smiled into the kiss. I walked her backwards until her back was pressed against the clock tower wall. I held her back in my large hands. I kissed along her jaw and onto her neck. She let out a soft moan and whispered, "Damon," in a breathless hushed tone.

"Don't," I whispered breathlessly as I moved my lips to hers. The kiss reminded me of when we kissed in the rain. Everything slipped away from around us. In the middle, there we were. The messy couple that fight like dogs but also fight so hard for their relationship to work, no matter what.

"Elena!" I heard Matt say from behind us.

She pulled away with an excited smile on her face as she looked at him. I rolled my eyes as she ran over to Matt and hugged him. She stood back and looked at me and mumbled to him, "Sorry that you saw that. We didn't think anyone was out here."

"I just can't believe you're here," he said in awe. The tears of joy welled up in his eyes.

I said in a snarky voice, "I can't believe you're here either. Perfect timing, Donovan."

He looked at me with a disgusted look on his slightly-aged face. He said, "Why are you here?"

"Humanity switch is in order. Bonnie died. I no longer work for Cade. Same old thing really," I smirked. Elena just rolled her eyes.

Matt smirked, "I have someone that wants to meet you." He turned to the side and called out, "Amira."

A beautiful latina girl appeared from just about nowhere. She walked up to me and caressed my face. She asked in a strong latina style accent. "Do you remember me?"
