Chap9
Noah sighed.
"I know, I know. I just don't want to say anything that will ruin... Whatever this is that we have. I'm afraid I'm gonna say something you won't like, and it will scare you away," said Noah after a short pause. He thinks HE can scare ME away?! Is he delusional?
"Seriously? You're worried about what you can say? Try imagining the things i have to explain! How can i even begin to explain what i am; what i do, and be sure to do it in a way that wont send you running for the hills? How can i do it in a way that wont send the one person other than my siblings who broke down the walls i had constructed around myself?" I panted slightly, gulping in the air surrounding us. I looked anywhere but him; it's too embarrassing.
"There's nothing you can say that's going to scare me off. I don't scare easily. As for breaking down those walls? It took me some damned effort to get 'em down. There's no way I'm going for a little jog and letting you build them back up. No way, No how," Noah replied, sounding determined... yet slightly... what was that? Amusement? I looked at him quickly, to find him smirking at me. It was a small smirk, but a smirk nonetheless.
"Whats so funny?" I demanded, my anger rising. I was trying to prove myself here!
"You. Thinking you're going to get rid of me," he replied, still smirking, but less profound than before.
"Oh shut up. I want some answers. What were you even doing in Gloucestershire?" I once again demanded.
"My family live there,"
"I thought you said they'd disowned you?" Why would he go there if they didn't speak to him?
"My parents have. My older brother, he doesn't blame me,"
"You have a brother?!" I was shocked; he's never mentioned a brother before!
"Yeah, Colby," Noah looked at my face then, seeing the poorly hidden amusement in my expression. "What? If you haven't already noticed, my parents like to give their kids weird ass names. My brothers Colby, I'm Noah and our little sister's called Kaia,"
"HOLD UP. You have a sister?!" Way to withhold the information, Noah.
"Isn't that what i just said? Pay attention, jeez," Noah winked at me. I chuckled to myself. "Anyway, you cant say anything about names. You're called Morana and your brothers called Dorian. No judging allowed,"
"Fine. But in all fairness, My name was popular back then!" I uttered the last part quietly. Apparently, not quiet enough, considering Noah heard me.
"Back.. then? Back when exactly?" He didn't even seem worried. Bastard.
"Well, I don't know the exact time period, but I am a descendant of Morana, the goddess of winter and death. Cool right?"
"Wait, so are you the goddess of winter and death now then?"
"Not winter. That would be a cousin of mine. I'm the goddess of death. You know, seeing as i hold the ability to kill whoever, or whatever i please?"
"And your cousin cannot?"
"My cousin is not a vampire,"
"So why are you a vampire?"
"My parents were. Somewhere down the line two sisters were vampires. One of them; My blood descendant, married to another vampire. This carried on down the chain, no humans involved. The other sister however, loved a human. They bred a child; my cousins descendant. Their child was a half human, half vampire. Then it gets complicated, the half blood also fell in love with a human, and because of the human blood in her, their child was only, what a quarter vampire? And low and behold, their child fell in love with a human. Their child was a full human. This carried on, leaving my cousin a human. So whilst we're all related, I am the goddess of death, she is the goddess of winter. Even though she isn't a vampire, she is still the descendant of the true goddess of winter and death, so she is... kinda like a Nymph. She can control the weather in winter; make it storm, or even blizzard," I explained slowly, making sure Noah at least somewhat understood my family tree. He looked intrigued, as if it was the most interesting thing in the world. I admit, it is pretty damn cool.
"Wow. That's, like... Really cool, Morana!" He was glowing with excitement. Not fear. Not regret. Excitement. Joy. And lets not forget the ever lasting lust. I rolled my eyes quickly at myself; I'm just flattering myself.
"I know right," I laughed. I remembered we were talking about his being in Gloucestershire. "So, you met up with your brother?"
"Right, yeah. He meets me once every month, giving me some cash to go on; I don't want it, but it makes him feel better so, you know, what the hell. He also updates me on my parents and Kaia. They may have disowned me, but they're still my parents, y'know?"
"Yeah, i understand. You should try and make up with them. You never know when you're time is up. No one knows God," I knew how it hurt to lose your parents. It's horrible. It will leave you with a pain that no matter how many people love you, no one will be able to fill the gap left by your own blood and flesh. But there's always someone who can come pretty damn close.
"Yeah, but i know you oh death goddess," Noah muttered quietly, still oblivious to the fact i could hear every word he said. I chose to ignore him.
Silence consumed us. I knew what was coming and i was preparing myself. We've spoken about him, and his reasons for being in Gloucestershire. Now its my turn to explain this whole vampire fuckery. Cant. Wait.
