I woke up and heard quiet snores from the red head assistant, Tikki. Gently, I got up and out of bed so I could check what time it was. When I saw the clock, I immediately forgot about the sleeping Tikki and rushed.
"Tikki! It is an hour passed school time! Hurry up and get ready!" Tikki rolled around in her bed, obviously irritable. "Marinette," she started, annoyance dripping out of her voice, "Today is Saturday."
I abruptly stopped what I was doing to reach for my phone. Sure enough, it said that it was the first Saturday in the month of February.
I honestly wasn't happy about February because in this particular month, comes a particular holiday. What is this hated holiday you ask? Valentine's Day.
Valentine's Day is basically the day when hearts break from rejection, or mushy-gushy lovey-dovey junk is all around you. But Alya says once I get a sweetheart that I will change my mind, yeah right.
Slowly, but surely, exhaustion washed over me. I slowly go to my bed, despite still being in my daytime attire and I slowly drifted into sleep.
I woke up (again) to the smell of breakfast. I walked around my room to see that Tikki wasn't there.
Figuring she was probably downstairs, I went there myself. When I reached my destination, I saw that there was no sign of parents, but instead Tikki was making breakfast.
She apparently heard me coming because she greeted me a good morning before she even turned around. "Good morning Marinette!"
I smiled at her sweetness, "Mornin'." I was still too tired so a fully constructed 'good morning' was out of the question.
"So your parents went to the contest they were talking about? They told me to tell you that and you would understand."
"Oh yeah! They went to China for a baking competition and are staying with my Great-Uncle. My mom was raised in China so she was really excited to see her homeland."
Tikki nodded her head and turned around holding two pans. One was filled with eggs and the other with sausage and bacon. I glanced behind her to see a grittle with pancakes cooking on top.
I dug into the food and sighed in satisfaction, "Where did you learn to cook like this?"
Tikki stopped and looked down, "My father." I stopped chewing and swallowed, "I'm sorry Tikki, I didn't know." She put a cheery smile on her face and continued, "It's okay, because now I can share my love for cooking with somebody else."
I was so happy to have a friend like Tikki. She was okay with my screw-ups and faults, not many people can do that. I finished eating and went upstairs to get cleaned up. As I was doing this, I heard a small ding coming from my bed.
It must be my phone..... I walked to my bed and turned on my phone. I scrolled through the the notifications and saw Mimey had texted me back.
Mimey: sorry. Just sick.
I was confused because when Mimey texted, he wrote paragraphs long. It sucks to have a best friend who takes a writers class.
Marinette: oh, okay just making sure cause I was worried😇
Mimey:u don't hav to worry nowDespite his short texts, I was glad that he did text me back. I got another text but it wasn't from Mimey. I scrolled through the my contacts and realized it was from Adrien! I wondered about all the possibilities why he would be texting me then I just looked at the text.
