They drive in silence for the first 10 minutes of being in the car. Josh doesn't know what he should do. He is unsure if he should ask what happened or if he should ask if Tyler wanted to go to the music store after school. Josh stares out at the road as he contemplates which one he should ask about.

"Josh" Tyler breaks the silence, relieving Josh of his thinking.

"Yes?" Josh says looking over at Tyler then back at the road.

"I was wondering... if we could go to the music store after school. I have something I wanna show you." Josh comes to a stop sign and looks over at Tyler. He is looking at his hands that are intertwined in his lap.

"Yeah, that would be cool." Tyler lets out a sigh and smiles.

"Thanks, man, I have been working on this for a while, and you're the only one I can trust to listen to it as of right now." Tyler looks up to see Josh staring at him. Josh looks down at his lap then at the road, his heart racing. Tyler smiles and looks down again.

They pull into the school, having to maneuver around all the other kids and cars, they finally find Josh's parking spot.

"Do you think he will be here?" Tyler says as Josh puts the car in park.

"I hope not" Josh looks out Tyler's window and is not pleased with the sight. Josh looks defeated and Tyler follows his gaze out the window.

"Shit" Josh says unbuckling himself.

"Josh, you know I don't like swearing" Tyler does the same. "What are we gonna do" Tyler fiddles with the pill bottle in his hand.

"I don't know yet... just follow me." Josh steps out the car and walks behind it to the passenger side. Tyler looks out his window and sees Jake and his 'gang' are already at the car. Tyler steps out and moves directly to where Josh is. He shoves the pill bottle into his sweatshirt pocket.

Jake takes a step forward. It makes Tyler uncomfortable how close he is. All he has to do is put and arm out, then he can touch me, Tyler thinks trying to avoid eye contact.

"So." Jake looks Tyler up and down. Tyler's heart begins to race, not the way it does with Josh but the way your heart races when you know something bad is about to happen and there is no way you can stop it.

You're a worthless little brat

Tyler hears being ringing in his ears after blurry decides to make an appearance.

Josh sees that today Jake has his full crew. In the morning usually, they luck out, there isn't enough of them to really do damage. Jake's morning group consists of himself and one other student, but today, today is a different story. Jake has 3 more tough looking guys. Tyler looks over at Josh, the look of terror written on his face. Josh sees this and knows he has to do something.

"It's okay" The ringing goes away as Josh whispers to Tyler. Josh pushes himself in between Tyler and Jake.

"Get out of my way you fag," Jake says getting in Josh's face. Josh wipes the spit off his face. Josh stays calm knowing that if he starts to show any sign of weakness, Jake will know to attack.
