Jean's eyes were scanning the room. She missed you entirely with them, though you were less upset than perplexed by that action.
"What are you looking for?" You asked eventually, out of curiosity more than anything.
Finally, her gaze fell to you. She was staring head on now - her attention solely on your face, on the question you'd asked.
There was a slight vacancy in it though. As though she wasn't content. Not yet.
"This room just doesn't feel right?"
You were confused at first. Was it something she could sense or just a general feeling? Whatever it was, you trusted her so entirely that she could've felt anything and you would have struggled to think against it.
"How so?" You asked softly, only trying to understand what had made her so tense.
Jean paused - furrowed her eyebrows, glanced over her shoulder as if she expected someone you couldn't even see.
Her voice was a whisper now. She leaned in so close you could feel her breath where it touched your cheek.
"Like-" Jean began. "Like someone's here that shouldn't be."
Without trying to be obvious, you lifted your head and peered over her shoulder.
There were a few moments when you couldn't understand it. No one in the room seemed out of place. But Jean's eyes were widening as if something was coming.
Sure enough, he stepped through the door.
