Allison's P.O.V:

It was racking up to be a normal evening at the Institute. Kai and Sebastian had come back from a mission dealing with a small vampire rebellion a few blocks down, Vivian had just now awakened from one of her glorious mid-day hangovers, Peter stayed out of trouble by locking himself in his room for most of the day, and I kept Hailey and Henry in check to make sure they didn't set the Institute on fire. Of course, it's always during those normal mundane days that things can turn terribly wrong in an instant. I was just coming down the stairs from checking up on Vivian, when I felt something was off, terribly off. I heard muffled voices nearby, some I recognized as Kai and Henry, but some weren't at all familiar. I grabbed the hilt of my seraph blade cautiously as I quietly went down the stairs and turned the corner. As soon as I turned the corner, I immediately regretted coming downstairs. There, standing before me, was Valentine Morgenstern with about ten of his goons surrounding all of my friends. Valentine was mere inches in front of Kai, who had a fresh red handprint across his cheek, and was nearly yelling at him, "Now I'll ask you again, where is the head of this Institute?!?" I cringed as Kai spat in Valentine's face, "Over my dead body!" Before Valentine could order one of his goons to beat up Kai again, and I rushed forward with tears in my eyes and my seraph blade at the ready, "Don't touch him!" Valentine turned around slowly and smirked once he saw me, "Ahh... Allison Jade, head of the Seattle Institute. What a pleasure it is to finally meet you in person."

"What are you doing here Valentine?" I growled through my teeth. Valentine tsked, "Ms. Jade, you should never threaten someone who holds a higher power than you. As you can see," He then gestured to my friends that were surrounded by a circle of his goons, "I have the authority here. Tell me, where is the Immortal Cup?" I gulped, every instinct in my body was telling me to run and stab Valentine straight through the heart, but I stood my ground out of fear for my friends' lives, "I-I don't know." He shook his head, "Don't lie to me Ms. Jade..." "I'm not lying!" I stuttered out as I saw one of Valentine's goons press a seraph blade to Kai's throat. I flinched as I felt my parabatai rune that resided on my left shoulder start to burn from the pain Kai was experiencing. The pain was becoming too hard to bear, and Kai could tell as he blurted out, "I'll tell you Valentine! I will! Just stop hurting her, please..." Valentine waved to the goon that was holding Kai by the throats and let him go, relieving me of my pain. Valentine then crouched down to Kai's eye-level and smirked, "Good to see I knocked some sense into you. Now, where is the Cup?" Kai took a deep breath and muttered hesitantly, "It's not in our Institute... It's in New York City." My shoulders slumped in defeat as Valentine stood up with a wicked grin on his face, "New York, huh? Very well." He then turned to his goons and gestured to all of us, "Take them with us, I want to see what downworlder and demon blood does to them." Before I knew it, one of Valentine's goons pinned my arms behind my back and another hit the side of my head. The last thing I heard before the world turned dark was Kai and the rest of my friends cry out my name.
