Kai's P.O.V:

As soon as everyone had disappeared from the alley, including the shadowhunters, I deactivated my invisibility rune that was on the lower right part of my stomach. I crouched low to the ground, trying to pick up any energies the redhead was giving off, since I knew that the demons were going to be after her now that they've seen her face, and re-activated my enhance hearing rune that resided right behind my left ear. I followed the red head's trail until I stumbled upon an apartment building that had some sort of magic/tarot card reading business as its bottom floor. I creeped up the fire escape of the building and re activated my invisibility rune for good measure.

I sighed with relief once I saw the redhead, and I heard her pouring her heart out to, who I assumed to be, her mother, "And then these creepy tentacles seemed to come out of the body builder's face, and and then the guy just vaporized. I mean, I was drugged, right?" This peaked my interest, this mundane had to know about the Shadow World, right? Her mother sat on the couch and muttered, "What did the markings look like on the blonde boy you were talking about?" I smirked when she said this, Jace Wayland was always a topic of conversation that I had found amusing. The redhead stuttered out, "Who cares, Mom, okay? Are you even listening to me? I think I killed a guy." The mother shook her head and showed her a strength rune, and this is when I realized that she had hidden the Shadow World from the redhead her whole life, "Clary did they look like this?" The redhead, who's name I now knew was Clary, gaped, "Mom, what the..." The mother shook her head as she started to walk towards Clary, "Everything you saw tonight has a meaning and an explanation, and I've dreaded having this conversation with you since the day you were born." Clary stammered out, "What is going on? Am I going insane?" Clary's mother shook her head and said soothingly, "No, you're not. But the protections are wearing off. You're 18 now, and you need to know the truth." Clary shook her head, still flabbergasted from the conversation, "Protections? What does that even mean? Mom, you Mom, you're scaring the hell out of me." Clary's mother nodded, "I know, and that's why I've put this off until the last possible minute." Another woman, it took one look to convince me it was a warlock, barged into the room, "Jocelyn, look out the window. Magnus called to warn us. They found you." I scooted away from where I was near the window slightly as Clary's mother sighed, "Dot, it's time," she then turned to Clary and started giving random things to her, "Okay, listen to me. You cannot be near me." Clary asked as her mother went to grab a purple necklace and began to put it on her, "What's happening?"
"I got a very powerful person angry."
"What did you do?"
"I hid something from him and his followers."
"Followers? Why can't we just call the police?" "The policeman you need to call is Luke. Keep this with you and think of me when you wear it." As soon as Clary's mother finished putting the necklace on her, Clary rolled her eyes, "Mom, this is not the time for more birthday gifts. What the hell is happening?" The warlock, Dot, then gave Clary's mother a vial of green liquid, "Only if you need it." I tuned out of the conversation when I felt my parabatai rune that I shared with Alice start to burn slightly. I then pulled out my steele and traced over my parabatai rune, cutting off communications with Alice. I muttered to both myself and her, "I know what I'm doing, just stay out of it Alice. Don't bring any of the others into this." When I tuned back into what was happening, Clary's mother was pushing her through a portal, the portal then disappearing shortly afterwards, "Remember, I love you."

I took this opportunity to make my presence known by breaking my way through the same window I've been staring through. The mother grabbed the hilt of her seraph blade, to which I responded by lowering my own blade and muttered quietly, "I'm not your enemy Ms. Fray. My name is Kai, Kai Seraph, and I'm here to help you and your daughter." Dot sneered, "How should we trust you?" I shrugged as I heard pounding footsteps signaling the upcoming amounts of Circle members, "You don't. But just know that, as of right now, we are both about to have a common enemy." The mother nodded before rushing off, "Thank you Kai. I'm Jocelyn, Jocelyn Fairchild." I smirked once I heard the yells of the approaching Circle members, "Ready warlock?" Dot nodded, "If you are." After Dot spoke, about five to ten Circle members burst through the door. I unleashed my double bladed seraph blade and started to slash at the Circle members.
