~The constellations were damaged, no light or hope from either side. The world was starting to notice, what was happening to the night's most beautiful constellations?~
Ara arrived at her dorm, ready to open her letter.
Dear Ara,
Dark times are arriving, be very careful. Stay close to Draco or the bond will cause intolerable pain. Keep in touch regularly.
Love,
Narcissa Malfoy
Ara silently agreed with Narcissa's words and set out to get ready.
~
Draco opened his letter in secrecy away from his dorm mates.
Dear Draco,
Take care of Ara, and stay close to her. She is the only person in Hogwarts that will help you with anything. You know what happens if you don't follow what the bond wants. Keep in touch regularly.
Love,
Narcissa Malfoy
Draco sighed and obliged to follow his mother's orders.
~
Albus Dumbledore announced about the upcoming Triwizard Tournament, and everyone started to whisper frantically.
Ara liked the idea but was too focused on her bond cravings.
She really wanted to go up to Draco Malfoy right in front of everyone in the great hall and hug him or at least hold his hand tightly.
Some sort of contact was necessary at the moment and she was definitely craving for it.
She glanced up at the Slytherin table and to her surprise saw Malfoy staring at her. He raised his eyebrows as if to ask "You too?".
She nodded and he jerked his head slightly towards the door.
She got up and left the great hall ignoring her friends questioning glances.
After about ten minutes of waiting, the great hall entrance was filing up with students leaving for their respective common rooms. She hid behind the pillar, hoping not to get spotted by her friends and to her utmost luck, Malfoy walks by her.
She grabs at his sleeve and he slightly stumbles. She holds him before he falls. Instant relief at the contact between them helps both their cravings.
"Thanks." He muttered and gets away from her arms to her disappointment.
He gently takes her hand replacing disappointment to surprised as they ascend up the stairs, all the way to the astronomy tower.
The gentle cool breeze covered in darkness contrasting the bright stars.
He guides her to the edge and they stand to watch the stars, shoulders touching.
Ara liked this side of Malfoy or Draco, could she say? It suited him well and she wanted him to stay like this.
"Can we at least try to be.. erm.. acquaintances?" Ara whispered gently.
Draco took in her words, his thoughts filling in the silence.
There was no point in fighting if he had to spend his life with her. His mother's words reminded him, "She will help you, help you with things you didn't believe in."
He didn't really understand her words but finalized fighting was past them now, it was time to change.
Draco looks over at her, his eyes and smile soft.
Ara was struck by awe with his gentle smile. It was absolutely.... absolutely. beautiful.
It was the bond that was making her think like this. The bond only.
"I guess trying will help, won't it? Bondage requires a lot more than acquaintanceship though. A lot more." He coughed nervously.
It took Ara a couple of seconds to realize what that meant and her cheeks reddened.
Draco put his hand in front of her, as if for a handshake. It reminded Ara of the time when Draco was asking Harry to be friends. The same nervous glance that filled Draco's face three years ago still looked the same.
"Friends?"
But Ara wasn't Harry, and she had different circumstances. Brushing away all the negative consequences of this friendship she embraced the positive ones.
She took his hand and shook it.
"Friends." She confirmed. Her smile contrasting Harry's blank expression.
His relieved smile contrasting his previous year's glare.
He held onto her hand and slowly intertwined their fingers. The cold air was nothing compared to the heat coming from Ara's cheeks. It was an adorable sight, and Draco couldn't agree more.
And there they sat under the stars, hands intertwined, cheeks blushing.
As friends.
~
The first two tasks were completed. Harry had somehow managed to stay alive, though Ara barely knew how. Ron's and Harry's friendship were fixed and everything seemed fine for now.
Until Professor McGonagall announced the Yule Ball that was upcoming in a few weeks.
Ara was slightly panicked, at the thought of someone asking her to the ball. Who would ask her?
All the girls in her year as well looked as if someone ripped their heads off. This definitely made their year very interesting.
Ara decided she would wait for someone to ask her, and if nobody did, well she could go with herself or third wheel with Hermione and Ron.
Praying to all the gods she hoped Ron would ask Hermione or Ara was seriously going to 'Avada Kedavra' him.
~
Draco was in a fix.
He really wanted to ask Ara to go with him for the yule ball. It would help strengthen their shaky friendship but no one really knew about them and if anyone did, his reputation would go downhill.
When they would get bonded, he guessed everyone would know but for now, Draco should make use of his perfect reputation.
In the end, he'll ask Pansy. She seemed desperate, so might as well.
Ara could go with anyone else, not that he cared.
~
Oh, how wrong he was.
