"A-Animated...self?" Shizuo gazed at the promotional poster of him and his friends unbelievably.
"Yep. You're in an anime. That's where you come from." I pointed at the title of the poster. "Durarara is the name of your anime."
"...Durarara?" I nodded and took Shizuo's hand as I led him into the store. I found the floor in the store dedicated to Durarara merchandise and showed him a display case.
"Shizuo, Durarara is so popular in Japan. You are essentially a legend in Ikebukuro, so they've made figurines of you. See?" I pointed to a well sculpted figure of the said man and he picked up the boxed version to the left of the display case.
"What? Figures? Like the ones Yumasaki and Erika have?" He rotated the box several times, trying to process what he was holding. "They have figures of me here?"
I nodded.
"And people buy these figures of me?"
I nodded again.
Shizuo glanced at the box, then back at me. "I don't suppose you own a figure of me, do you?" I became flustered and turned away.
"N-No. I don't have a figure of you Shizuo! Wh-Why were you thinking that?" I actually did have a figure of him. In fact, I had the same one we were staring at, but I didn't want things to get awkward, so I didn't tell him. "Anyways! Lots of people love to watch anime and lots of people love to buy merchandise. I mean, look at this store! It has anime all over it." I could see Shizuo was still shocked at what he just saw. He didn't put the figure back on the shelf. Not for a while. To lighten the mood, I tried joking about the figure.
"Do you like how the creators made you look?" He stared at his sculpted face and responded with a shrug.
"I have to admit, the creator of this figure really made it look like me. I didn't see how I look in the actual anime though, so I don't know if this is accurate to everyone else who watched it."
"Oh, it's very accurate. Very, very accurate. I've watched Durarara, so I know that this figure really does look like you." When I observed the figure closely, I started to think about Shizuo as a little child. He was shunned by other kids, kind of like me. I then remembered the scene where he walked to the bakery. I grabbed his arm excitedly and I shook it.
"Shizuo I almost forgot to tell you! I can't believe how stupid I am!" I grabbed the boxed figure of himself and laced back onto the shelf. "We need to go there! I know you'll like it better there because it is more peaceful there than it is in here."
"Wait what are you talking about? What peaceful place?" Shizuo started pondering on what I said. "Is it a place I know? Have I been there?"
"Shizuo, all your questions will be answered when we get there. Just know that it will be better than here."
I smiled as I led him out of the store. As we walked towards Higashiikebukuro, we talked about lots of things.
"Do you like Ikebukuro (Y/N)?" I grinned.
"Of course I do! I've lived here my entire life! Well, mostly. I still like Ikebukuro though. In fact, I love it!"
"That's good to hear. I also love Ikebukuro-well my Ikebukuro-but I still like this part of Tokyo." He formed a slight smile, one my heart flipped over at. I wanted to hear about his life from him directly, so I continued the conversation.
"Shizuo, have you lived here your entire life so far?" Shizuo nodded.
"Yeah. I grew up in this district. I never moved out or anything."
