(A/N): Gosh, it's been so long since I've written on here. Just to let everyone know, no matter how long it has been from an update, I will always eventually update the story. I'm not going to give up on this story because it's such a good one and I don't want to disappoint the lovely readers who are enjoying it :)
The lady kindly went behind the counter and waited for us to order as she polished the display.
I looked at Shizuo. "What do you want?" Shizuo didn't reply until the lady told us to wait while she went into the back of the bakery.
"What do you mean 'What I do I want'? I didn't want to come in here in the first place because I have bad memories of being here." Shizuo faced towards the exit.
"I know you do, Shizuo, but she's not the same lady. She's not the lady you accidentally hurt that one time." I went around him to make eye contact. "What surprises me is the fact that she is just like her. Like literally. She acts, looks, and sounds just like her."
"That's why I don't want to be here. I don't wanna relive the memory." He found a table and sat in a random chair. I sat in the chair opposite of him.
"But Shizuo, you're not going to hurt anyone. Not me, not the lady, not even this store." Shizuo gave me a pained look.
"I don't know about that. I've accidentally hurt others in the past. I guess that's why no one really goes near me." Shizuo's hands pressed onto the table with considerable pressure. "I just want to be strong enough to control my strength. That way I wouldn't be so afraid." His hands made small cracks on the wooden table as he talked. I stared at the cracks, their reason of appearance being the very reason why he's shunned. We sat in silence for a few moments because I didn't want to say anything; I didn't really know how to respond.
Finally, after what seemed like three hours of complete silence, the kind lady made her way back into the bakery from the back door. She took notice of us sitting.
"Oh! Have you decided on what you want?" She gave us a curious stare as Shizuo and I stood up and made our way to the counter.
"Um..." I looked at Shizuo, then back at the lady. "what do you have?" I immediately internally slapped myself.
'Stupid, stupid, stupid! Why did I have to ask that?! Ugh, she's gonna think I'm weird!'
"Well, we have different types of bread, including milk bread, jelly-filled bread, baked bread. We also have pastries, like donuts, different types of cake, and we have sandwiches too." She motioned her hand towards the shelves with wrapped delights and to the current display in front of us, pointing to each of the said delights.
I was surprised to find that she didn't give a remark on what I said. I quickly disregarded it though, as I eyed the various sweets and felt my mouth beginning to water.
"Oh. Well, um...I think-"
"May we have two slices of the strawberry cheesecake please?" My eyes fixated on Shizuo, who completely forgot about leaving the bakery and was now focused on those delectable slices of strawberry cheesecake, the gooey red strawberry frosting essentially dripping down the sides. I didn't want to protest against his choice, but when Shizuo started to pull out his wallet, that's when I stopped him again.
"Shizuo, let me pay." He shook his head and pulled out a few bills. The lady opened up the display and pulled out the cake. She cut off two slices and went into the back to get plates and forks.
"No (Y/N). Remember what I said? I said I would pay next time. I'm going to pay for it." He gave me a determined look as the lady came back with the plates and forks and placed the slices of cake on the plates. She handed the plates to me with a smile so bright I thought I would become blind.
