I dedicate this book to my family for helping me and to James Patterson for inspiring me in this book and for writing the Maximum Ride Novels

Footsteps were running.

People were panting hard running out of breath.

Sweat formed on foreheads as the hallways, the two people passed, were getting hotter and hotter by the minute.

Running left and then right all round felt like the people were running in a square.

Quickly the adult and child stopped where a dead end had been reached.

They turn to see the guards of the place were catching up and had them cornered perfectly well.

They guards came closer and ...

Marina Goldenbroths Wing-Child shook her head of that distant memory that had happened almost 10 years ago when her father had broken her out of that hellish prison they call a lab.

She stood on the balcony of the home that had been a hide out that she has been living in since she was 6.

In two days time when Marina will turn 16, she will be able to leave and see the town of where her parents were raised before they met each other.

Marina smiled at the happy thought of leaving but was sad at the fact that after 10 years of hiding and trying to conceal powers that nothing will work.

Of all the people who were born with wings Marina had been experimented on with powers and other such stuff.

Marina was big for her age of 15 almost 16 with beautiful sky blue eyes, golden brown hair, almost white skin (Due to the effects of staying inside for ten years), small nose, full lips, and tall for her age of about 6ft 7in.

Marina's hair ran all the way down to her back so she kept it in a braid but always placed the braid over her shoulders down the front.

Her wings were a beautiful golden fire glow but she chose not to fly around much after being taught how to.

I can't believe that after all my life of trying to hide that I get to finally see this mysterious town my parents always tell me about, thought Marina.

Just as she was thinking this something hit her on the backside of her head making her stumble a bit forward.

Quickly adjusting herself Marina felt wetness on the back of her head and saw bits of snow on her shoulder.

"Mark!!" yells Marina turning around.

Her 16 year older twin brother, Mark, stood there with a snowball in his right hand smirking at her.

"You have to stop doing this kind of thing when I am thinking, all right cause I mean someone might stumble along and see you using our family heritage of snow powers on me," said Marina trying to tell him to knock it off.

"For the millionth time sister, there is no one here to see us doing this. But it's such a shame cause they are missing out on this kind of fun," said Mark throwing his other snowball at her.

Marina narrowed her eyes and they became golden making the snowball stop in thin air and become a little bit bigger and head straight directly at her brother finding it's mark of hitting him fully in the mouth.

The force of the snow hitting in is mouth knocked him over.

"Eat snow big brother," smirked Marina, "You may be older than me by two days but you need to know is that I was forced into these kinds of powers and now I can't back out of what I was forced into so stop bothering me with this kind of stuff and leave me alone."
