Marina Wing-Child

Chapter 7

Reina woke early before the family did and set to work on gathering branches and sharpening her weapons for hunting the animals as she and Marina did.

Before the family left the house with her, Reina had told her parents that she has been summoned by The Wings of Justice group to train for the army, which was partly true since Marina and her family were heading there, and become a soldier for the war.

Her family was happy and sad for they would lose their eldest daughter in the war.

Reina assured them that she would be fine and will write to them whenever she can.

She knew how much she hated to lye to her family but she would just do anything for Marina and would never want her to go back to the horrors that she had endured.

Her older brother Coken had left the family after he had married and has never written a letter to them in the last six months of his one year marriage.

Her younger sister Lourando was the baby of the family, at the age of 5, and hadn't gotten her wings in yet,

When all kids turn at the age of 8, their wings will grow in and come out on their birthday party.

It's a tradition that has been going on since before their race had ever happened.

However, Marina didn't get her wings in until she turned 10 and broke tradition, but everyone kept quiet about it cause when you talk about her not getting her wings in to someone else, it could spread until the scientist find her.

The reason that happened was due to the expirementations that was placed on her and Marina was hoping that her children would never have to wait for their wings to come in until they turned 10 like she did.

Reina shook her head to clear the memories of her family and focus on the positive and negative things that could happen when they get there:

Positive things: The Wings of Justice could take the family in, help heal Andon, and have the family train as soldiers for the upcoming war.

(It was no secret that The Wings of Purity was preparing for war cause the leader of the Wings of Justice had sent a spy to see what their evil leader, Tobent, would be doing right now.)

Negative things: The Wings of Justice would want to take Marina in for more of expirementations, they kick out the family for defending her, and they wouldn't heal Andon and he would die.

She took a deep breath in and knew that the positive things would happen cause The Wings of Justice were nice people and she knew their neighbor left there to have his younger brother checked out cause he didn't seem to be responding, and two weeks later he comes home happy with his younger brother skipping around him very happy.

Reina heard a twig snap and look up only to see Marina awake and ready to leave to hunt for breakfast.

"Hey," said Reina smiling, "Gotta good night sleep?"

Marina nodded her head saying "Yah but the weird part is that I feel like I've been drained of my powers last night. I guess that I'm just stressing too much."

"Well you haven't been the same since Voken showed up at your house, finding you where you've been living for the past 10 years, and poisoning you brother Andon," Reina replied while going back to sharpening the knife.

Marina considered that thought before nodding her head side to side thinking Yeah that's kinda true, and said "What you say is true Reina."

Reina smiled and stopped sharpening her knife and put the knife sharpener down while saying, "Maybe we should head on out and see if we can catch anything for breakfast or Mark will complain."
