"You see? This is exactly why I have been against this from the start." My dear sweet cousin could have shouted the last bit but he knew that would never solve anything.

We were at his house and alone. It was closer to the morning on the eve of Sean's birthday. My phone was off because I didn't really want to talk to anyone from my school at the moment. My aunt and uncle would be out... who knew where. Matt with his uncanny sixth sense knew where to find me. He always did. The last Kill Bill movie just ended. Neither movie I ever got around to see from beginning to end. I always caught parts of the movie. Generally here at my cousins house because Matt was obsessed with the movies.

I may envy Uma Thurman just a little bit at the moment. At least she could drive away from her problems.

"Matt," I said thankfully with no headache coming on, "It's not really like that."

"Then tell me what it IS like!" Matt finally took his time to stop lifting his 30 pound weights he held in each hand. If it wasn't sex it was weight lifting he went to. My cousin may be a player but he was still a gentleman at heart. So sex wasn't something he pressured any of his play things into. Despite what people said. "Because I don't understand any of this."

I was watching Uma Thurman drive on the TV screen like she had not one care in the world before I answered. I couldn't quite look at my cousin at the moment. Could we call it shame? Was there something I should ashamed about? Well for starters my cousin was ALWAYS there for me. He expected me to come to him with all my problems because it wasn't like my own brother or mother could understand. Just as long as we didn't get too much into his personal life.

"Do you love the guy?" It was his turn to stare at the screen instead of looking at me, must run in the family.

I opened my mouth, "That..." What do I say to that?

Matt thinking he struck gold faced me, "Can you even answer that?"

Dang he kind of had me cornered on that one and he knew it.

"I'm sixteen years old, what do I know about love anyway?" I stubbornly crossed my arms across my chest while sitting straighter at the kitchen table.

The room we were in was a half kitchen half living room like most of the other houses had. Only this one had cream colored shades on the windows with eggshell colored walls. It wasn't as nice and cozy as Sean's kitchen was. Matt was maybe six feet straight across from me on the floor with his back to the television. I was sitting in one of those high stool kind of chairs that had back support which weren't very comfortable.

Then again my aunt uncle that lived here weren't so great themselves. When Matthew came out to them, they got quiet. It was like they didn't care if Matthew came or left the house anymore. They were even colder towards me but I preferred that over the worst scenarios.

Matt shook his head now squatting down to his left knee to lift his dumbbells again.

"Stubborn," he almost shook his head at me. I say almost because I hit him with something new.

Hmm, let's try something, "What did Jamie and you talk about?"

What to make of that look he just gave me was anyone's guess. Maybe it had some anger, hurt, and confusion in it. Even I have tried to reach him most others have only dreamed of and failed. Guess that really hit home because he stopped talking to me until the end credits of the movie were finished. The house got quiet besides the labored breaths Matt was taking.
