Now there were multiple songs in my head for this chapter. There was a cover of Safe and Sound, but I think I used that already in AJT. Soooo, I Dare You To Move by Switchfoot fit the bill. I'm sure you awesome people can figure which scene this romantic song goes to. I won't say much more. But if you haven't looked into Flirt by CooCooForCocoPuffs please do :) Blows a kiss to you all ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

“Are you ready?”

Blake’s arms were wrapped tightly around my waist. His fingers shook even though they were embedded into my rib cage.

“Seriously Blake, are really up for this? You don’t have to do this. You don’t have to be so brave for me. You’re only human.”

“But I want to do this.”

“Needs and wants are two different things,” I told him trying to change the position slightly to see him better. The poor kid was trembling like a leaf.

When he didn’t reply I tried once more, shifting my weight to the side as I said, “Come on Blake we don’t have to go through with this. You can tell me no and it’s not like I can be mad at you.”

“But you still might be. I have to do this.”

“Blaaaaake…” It came out like a whine but seriously, this kid could be so stubborn.

“Don’t Blaaaaake me, let’s get this over with.”

“Should we at least put a time limit to this?”

“Can you put a time limit to something like this? Really? Quit stalling. I’ll never get over my fear of this until it’s over.”

I sighed, grabbed a hold of the throttle (ha-ha throttle) and gunned the jet ski to life.

It wasn’t supposed to fly off like it did but can you blame a guy for being a little too excited? Blake wrapped his arms from behind me tighter, as if that wasn’t possible. I was able to grit my teeth through it but he did loosen his grip.

The water glittered like the ocean but didn’t have the same shimmer. Let alone the smell was very different. Either way, I still loved it and I hoped Blake would too.

“Open your eyes,” I had to shout over the engine to Blake behind me. “You’ve got me remember?”

Blake said something back but the wind blew his voice away from me to hear. It was probably something smart mouthed.

Oh man, what a thrill it was to be out in the water again. Everyone was pretty much away either with their boats tied together (they waved, I waved back, Blake wasn’t bold enough to try) or they were near the water having a barbeque. The breeze was pretty good as the water splashed up at us some. The ripples from the other boats made us bounce. I had to remember not to hit them too hard, unless Blake wanted to go for a swim all along.

We had our life jackets on, just in case. Though I forgot to ask if Blake knew how to swim. Funny enough, we never talked about it before.

Since the sun was directly in my face I took a quick right to keep along the coast sides. Other people were tubing, a full family on a giant inflatable float with handles to grab onto. Two girls that were originally standing while connected to a speed boat took a turn to drop down on their stomachs. Their feet and legs were in the water as they were pulled through.

A man and woman were on a pair of jet ski’s. The way they looked at each other as they stayed side to side…

Nikita popped back into my mind. I can’t say there was a time I didn’t think of either Blake or her. Sometimes when I was with Blake, I’d think of Nikita. Other times with Nikita, I’d think of Blake. Was that a bad thing?
