Chapter 3
For most of the flight, Trevor tried to talk to me but I just shut him out. I just can't believe my mom tried to use him like that. She just always has to have a purpose or reward for something. Was it my constant whining or my fugly personality she hated and wanted to fix? I mean sometimes she was just five foot one inches of pure evil.
"Melly...," Trevor called. I flinched that's what...THEY called me. "Don't EVER call me that," I snapped. That sick S.O.B smirked then teased, " Why Melly, is it reserved for your boyfriend, or what... another special boy." My eyes clouded with tears, then I pushed him and stood up. "Miss, I need you in your seat please." I gave her a death glare and spoke through clenched teeth, "No, you shut the fuck up and give us a moment, and while you're at it,tuck your boobs back in your shirt!" Well, that felt good, I was dying to tell her that earlier.
I turned to Trevor to see him still smirking up at me. Then he decided to speak, "So let me guess, it's a boyfriend." Then that's when I cracked. I grabbed him by his collar and shouted, "Do you really want to fucking know? Hugh, asshole!! My best friend and boyfriend used to call me that." "I still don't see the big issue," he started. But, I interrupted him. "Oh really, so you would enjoy people calling you a name that two freakin' dead people called you. Or, how about the fact that you could've done something to stop them from dying!! Or maybe even, that one of them saved your life in the last second. Or what about, that you insisted on riding fucking shotgun which was the only seat with a god damn seatbelt. Because that's how I feel every day, I lost the only two people who actually loved me!!"
By the last sentence, I was sobbing my heart out. Trevor's voice came out in a hushed whisper that he didn't intend for me to hear but I did, he said, "That's not true, I did." I ignored his bullshit lie, I mean god must really hate me to take away Adam and Chase so why would one idiot love me?
I took a glance around me to see everyone looking mortified by my little 'scene.' I wiped my tears because I refused to look vulnerable and turned to Trevor to see his guilty face. "And, if you couldn't tell by now, that's the reason I moved," the sentence came out in a low whisper. For a few seconds, Trevor was at a lost for words then he finally spoke up "Mel, I'm so sorry!! What can I do to make up for it?" "Stay away from me," my voice came out in a hushed whisper.
"Flight 221 has landed in San Diego, California. Please exit the plane in an orderly fashion, thank you!!" the flight attendants overly-cheerful voice echoed throughout the plane. "Mel-bear, wait! Can I at least have your number?" Trevor pleaded. I looked into his green eyes as he gave me the puppy-dog face he gave me when we were little and I sighed. "Absolutely..." I started "Yes!!!" He screamed. "Positively not." I ended my statement.
I looked up at his face and automatically regretted it. It almost felt like I just kicked an innocent little puppy. But like my mom said, since I have no soul I didn't spare him a second glance as I walked away hoping never to see him again. But because I'm just the LUCKIEST person in the world, that wouldn't happen AT ALL.
I found my parents outside the plane and ignored them and went straight to the car. They can do all the airport stuff, I mean they basically set me up for public humiliation on the plane. After an awkward drive with my prodding parents, we finally stopped at a beautiful middle to large-sized home in the San Diego hills.
The next day I decided to just sit outside on the porch. Suddenly, a car pulled up while my parents were in the house. The expensive-looking car carried four teenage boys. I heard voices and someone shout, "Man you're right, she's hot". All of the sudden, Trevor stepped out of the car. I looked at him and didn't hesitate telling he's number one. "When were you going to tell me you live by me asshole?" I shouted. "It never really crossed my mind but look, I already made friends. Like when we were little, I was always the more sociable one." He through in a wink after.
"You're very flattering, mind introducing me to the Three Stooges back there?" I said boredly. The three guys and hopped out of the car and all have me an once-over. "I'm Patrick" the muscular blonde with blue eyes said. I gave him a meaningless wave and turned to the next one. "Matt" the one with brown hair and brown eyes said. " I'm Caleb" the one with black hair and blue eyes said.
Out of nowhere,my mom comes frolicking over. "Oh my goodness, Amelia you already made new friends. What a little social butterfly? That's very surprising of you, you know this girl here...." My mom blabbered. "Enough mother" I said through clenched teeth. Then I continued "my 'friends' were just leaving."
"Oh nonsense, how about you boys join us for dinner. Kenny (my dad) is making burgers on the grill." My clueless mother chimed in. "You know, mom they're busy so I think they're going to...." I nervously said but got interrupted by Trevor. Trevor said "That would be great Mrs.Carter but Patrick, Matt, and Caleb have football conditioning so they will have to pass." I glared at him as he walked past me straight into my house. This will be a long day. I'm having dinner with my parents and their little project to fix my heart.
