"Shit just got real," I said to myself.
"Excuse me?"
"I mean, y-you want to marry me?" I asked hesitantly.
Sure, I dreamt of getting married to a prince, living in a castle and having a few kids of our own but I didn't expect this. This world that I've been dragged in is full of lies and treachery. But now, it's my world too. The moment I fell in love with the King, I was thrown into the dirty game of survival.
"I do. You are by far the best thing that happened to me. I know, we haven't had the best relationship but I realised something. Milan, baby, I may not know your favourite song or your childhood best friend's name but what I do know is that I'm madly in love with you."
He looked at me like I was the most precious thing in the world. Like wifi I guess.
"I know that I want to spend the rest of my life trying to give you everything that you deserve. I know that I'll never let you go. No matter how much we hate each other, we're meant to be," he said.
"I'm scared, Elliot," I chocked out. "What if we're not meant to be? What if someone tries to separate us again? What if they succeed? I don't want to get hurt again," I cried.
He looked torn apart. He pulled me towards him and wrapped his arms around my waist. I clutched his shirt in my fists, scared to let go. What we had was amazing. He made me feel like I'm worth it. I wasn't afraid that he'd judge me. He made me so happy.
"Love," he almost begged. "Seeing you cry makes me feel so powerless. I love you and you feel the same way. Even if we end up being a tragic love story, it will be worth it. You are worth it to me. If you're scared of becoming a target, I'll give up my throne for you, baby, just say the word," he spoke softly, running his hands through my hair.
I pulled back and shook my head, wiping my tears away. "This is your dream, Elliot. Don't give it up for me. I'm n-
"You are my dream!" He exclaimed desperately.
"Elliot, we're fighting again," I chuckled. His eyes widened and he broke out in a grin, his eyes twinkling. We both just stood there, unaware of our surroundings, completely lost in each other. "I'd rather fight with you until my dying breath than make love to anyone else," he smiled.
"How will this work?" I asked, trying to pretend like didn't just lay his heart out for me on a platter.
He rolled his eyes. "For someone who claims to be nice, you sure know how to flatly reject a marriage proposal," he smirked.
I laughed. "Shut up, Elliot," I smiled.
"Always so good with comebacks, Miss Chandler," he grinned. I slapped him playfully and grinned back. I want this. Normalcy. I'd give anything to live a normal life with him. Just as humans who have to live on a budget and not worry about who has a vendetta against them.
"You've got ego issues," I pointed out.
"Duh! I'm the King!" He smirked smugly.
"And you got a bad temper," I said. I was trying to give him reasons this won't work out. I don't want myself to get hurt. Again.
"It's my way of protecting my people," he shrugged.
"You've slept with Tatiana," I said. I was jealous, alright. But who wouldn't be? All women are insecure. Hell, I bet even the Queen of England feared that her husband would find a better replacement.
