I was awoken by the sound of birds chirping outside my window. Then I remembered what today was, riding day. I hadn't gone riding in ages.
I got up so suddenly that Rolf fell off the bed. I heard him whine.
''Sorry, Rolffy.'' I said and stretched a bit.
I reached over to my bedside and realized that there were no cookies there. That was a major problem. I was really starting to worry. I needed to see Marmaduke right away.
I slipped on my dress and everything else, than ran downstairs.
''Marmaduke!'' I yelled as I entered the kitchen.
''Why, Luna. Up early aren't we?''
''Marmaduke, how could you?''
''What?''
''I wake up. Stretch a bit, Than lean over, and I realize the worst thing ever has happened. There was no cookies or milk.'' I said panicky.
''Calm down darling, they're over there on the counter, I just didn't have time to deliver them to your room.''
''Oh, thank you. But, why didn't you have time, isn't today like any day?''
''Yes, no, maybe, well, it's all come back to me, since yesterday, when the Moon Princess arrived.''
''Yeah, you have been moving a lot faster, but, that's all I've noticed.''
''You know what I'm talking about. The painting's back up.''
''Yes, I realized, but how is 'she' supposed to stop the curse?''
''Give her a chance, love. You've read the book, you know what's going to happen.''
''Yes, but she just doesn't seem the type.''
''Give her a chance.''
''I'll try.''
He chuckled as I chomped on my cookies and sipped the milk.
''Thanks, Marmaduke.'' I said when I was done.
''Any time.''
I left the kitchen to hear yelling from the dining room. I rushed over.
It appeared that my father was previously yelling at Miss. Heliotrope for being a noisy female.
''Come, Maria, Luna, riding.''
I smiled in glee, whereas Maria and Miss Heliotrope looked as if someone just stabbed their favorite pet.
My horses name was Ayla. She was a beautiful, tall, black and white horse.
Why uncle made sure the sadles were tight on all three of the horses.
''No, no, horses are highly unstable, and...''
Miss Heliotrope was speaking, but was cut off in shock as she stepped in some horse dung.
I didn't hold back my laughter and that earned me a death-glare from my dad, Miss Heliotrope and Maria. I held my hands up in surrender and mounted my horse.
''I think it best if I retire, take care Maria.'' Miss Heliotrope said and hurried inside.
We rode off and after a while, my dad decided to break the silence.
''You seem to be warming up to Periwinkle.''
''Well, she is a bit feisty, but very sweet.'' Maria replied.
I rolled my eyes. Really? She gets praised for riding a small pony? Pathetic. I can't wait to see how she handles the forest, or if she even dares to go into it.
''Well, we best be going.'' My dad said.
I was about to argue, but Maria beat me to it.
''But, uncle, I am so enjoying it, would you mind it if I continued to ride for just a while longer?'' Maria asked and finished with a sickening smile.
''Me too.'' I said.
''Alright, well, if you promise not to go into the forest, remember, I can only vouch for your safety while in Moonacre Valley.''
With those words he rode off.
