Maria slipped into the castle easily, with me following. All I had to do was follow Maria, she surprisingly seemed to know where she was going. She still didn't know that I was following her, though. She ran upstairs to a tower. I followed her and stood next to her. When she realized I was there she seemed utterly shocked, but said nothing, instead just continued looking down at Couer, the De Noir clans leader. I saw a bird perched atop something, not too far away. I knew that bird. He was sort of a sercurity measure thingy for the De Noirs, he would warn them about going ons in the forest and tons of other things. I really wanted to kill it.
It squawked, and no sooner than it did, did Couer look up to where we were. Suddenly, two guards from behind us grabbed our arms and took us downstairs.
A lot happened in the next few minutes. Maria was dragged to where Couer was standing, whereas I was held a little way off. She handed them the key, even though I knew that the pearls weren't here, it was still idiotic of her. I treasure that key, it had been in my possession for ages.
''No! Maria, you don't know what you're doing.'' I yelled at her before I could stop myself.
''And you do, Luna?'' Couer asked.
I was surprised as to how he knew my name, but answered his question anyways. ''Yes. Maria, the pearls aren't here.''
Maria frowned at me with a mixed expression, of confusion and anger. I had no idea why.
''Yes, finally a Merryweather who knows the truth. Your retched family stole them before my ancestor could grab the box.''
''I didn't imply that.'' I spat at him.
''So young and naive. Lock her up.'' Couer ordered and looked towards Robin who nodded and came forward.
He grabbed my arm and led me away. We had walked up a couple flights of stairs before I couldn't take it anymore.
''Stop. Don't you understand? You have to let Maria go, she will be able to stop the curse.'' I nagged.
Suddenly, Robin pinned me up against the wall behind us and grabbed my wrists. ''Don't you understand?'' He mocked me. ''The De Noirs have been waiting. When the curse sets, all you filthy Merryweather's will die.''
''So will you.'' I replied.
Robin chuckled. ''Being locked up is too good for you, and besides, you might come in handy with your knowledge of the curse.''
He moved away from me and grabbed my arm once more. Robin led me up another flight of stairs and shoved me into a room.
''Just stay here.'' He said and left me.
