— new school year —

Jeni »

As the trees began to change colour and the weather started to become colder, a new school year began.

I was still in the same school but in my second year of high school. I didn't have the same classmates from last year, except for Jaehyun and Chaeyeon. Pinky and Doyeon were in a different class this year, which is a disappointment for me, but luckily we could still meet each other during our breaks, lunch and after school hours.

Ever since we got back from the vacation in Thailand, I spent a lot of my summer holiday time with him - mainly because my parents were working, Jeno's busy with his friends and the girls were busy with their own activities. The time just didn't match.

My time with Ten was spent most at Deoksugung Stonewall Walkway, the summer weather wasn't too hot and we managed to find a perfect spot where there weren't many people. It was kind of like "our" spot. We did go to other places as well, but my favourite memories were there.

Reading books that we borrowed from the library, and secretly writing our initials inside them.

Writing random letters to each other that would make us cringe with laughter for hours, but the letters were meaningful.

Stargazing together and admiring the night sky while singing to some ballad music, and a mix of nature sounds.

Holding hands. Looking into his eyes. Hugging his warm body. Kissing his soft and gentle lips.

It was the little and simple things that we did that were the most memorable to me.

But as for now, I'm at school with Chaeyeon as my seatmate and Jaehyun sitting on the table beside me.

Jaehyun. We weren't awkward around each other anymore and we did have normal conversations at this point, but he still has feelings for me and I can tell it by just looking into his eyes. He's like an open book. But, I try to simply ignore it.

"Aren't we lucky that we're in the same class," Jaehyun said to Chaeyeon as I as we both took our seats.

"Yeah," Chaeyeon responded to him. "We should help each other out in our second year. Let's do well for this year like we did last year."

"We should," Jaehyun responded and made eye contact with me before smiling and turning to his friend.

"He still likes you, doesn't he?" Chaeyeon whispered into my ears.

"I guess, not sure," I answered.

"Well, I'm sure," Chaeyeon confidently said and took out her phone. "Anyways, are we still on for the cafe date with the boys?"

"Yeah, of course," I answered. "We've been planning this for a while, haven't we?"

"Good, and don't ditch us," Chaeyeon warned playfully and I just rolled my eyes.

"I've never ditched you guys," I answered.

Chaeyeon looked at me with a shook of her head. "School festival. Your birthday party. Cafe time. I will slap you, Lee Jeni, if you ditch us today."

"Alright, alright, I won't," I quickly responded with a faint laugh. "Don't slap me. I love you," I said and immediately hugged her.

"Of course you do. You should," Chaeyeon said and the school bell rang signalling the starting of school.

The cafe was filled with our laughter and voice as the girls, Jeno, Ten, Taeyong and I were at our usual seat at the cafe.
