The Heart - Break

I knew that I was staring.

I also knew that it was creepy, but it was just that I couldn’t hold it in me not to look at his eyes. No, I’m not one of these girls that would fall in love with a stranger just because he looks amazing.

But honestly, it was because I was kind of interested in beautiful things, such as paintings, nature, and many other things.

I stopped my bad habit ages ago when I saw people getting crept out because of me, and I didn’t like the idea of being alone for the rest of my life, so I just saved it to myself and never let anyone in.

I  blinked a few times, and shook my head. I repeated in my head that I should stop staring at him while he was talking naturally like he knew everyone here for centuries.

I stole a glance at Becky, she was happily speaking with Luke’s arms around her. They were cute together, like they really fell in love, and I couldn’t fight the smile that started to take over my face.

Right next to them sat Luke’s sister –Ava– she was typing on her cell since she saw us. She would send a few nods, and smiles when needed, but other than that she was like she lost connection with the world.

And then, you have John, he is their friend, and they knew each other since Elementary. He is from the baseball team, not any baseball player, but a good one too, and I might add that he is also famous here.

I knew that when Becky said his name, that I heard it before, it was one of the names that you will hear repeatedly everyday as if people wouldn’t get over saying his name.

“So Jasmine,” Becky began as she played with the straw that she was holding between her fingers. “Since me and Luke are already in a relationship, and his sister Ava  also has a boyfriend, that leaves you-” I rolled my eyes, and cut her off, before she could spell any other word.

“Nope, I told you, blind dates are over.” I could see that Luke was giving me a weird look, and I cut off Becky again before she could explain the situation in her own way, ”Becky used to plan blind dates for me.” I gave him a cheeky smile which he returned while nodding.

After the little chat, everyone stopped talking and just enjoyed the sweet silence. Around us were some couples, students, and teachers. Everyone seemed to be happy while chatting and eating, and for some reason that made me feel some kind of warm feeling inside of me.

Then I felt someone’s gaze on me, I looked up at the person to just see a clear green eyes. I gulped and glanced away.

I heard a small chuckle, making all of us snap our head to look at John, he had an adorable small on his face, as he drank his Latte.

“Okay, bye.” Becky kissed Luke on his lips, before waving at him, and turning around.

I gave them a little wave, not knowing what to do. I always felt kind of awkward with new people. I didn’t know what to exactly do or say. But for Becky, she didn’t care about anything, and just did what she usually does with any other person.
