Grace Farewell, the lady's name, took to her feet rather quickly and I did my best to follow. While we walked, she told me what to do as a nanny but I wasn't listening, the beauty of the mansion held all my attention. We finally stopped in the backyard where I spotted a bald man with a little girl who had neat, curly red hair, a hint of freckles, and the gleam of childhood mishief in her bright green eyes.
"Mr. Warbucks, this is Ann Marie Poppins. She's here for the nanny job." The man stood and walked over, the red head close behind. I looked up, he was consideerably taller then me and it scared me a bit. But upon thinking about what mom would do, I stood as straight as I could and held my hand out.
"It's nice to meet you sir." He raised an eyebrow but shook my hand. The girl smiled warmly and took a step closer, a shaggy brown dog next to her.
"Hello, I'm Annie. Are you a nice teenager?" She had the type of contagious joy that made me smile. "I'm nice, but firm." Her smile grew. "Do you want to explore the house?" "Definately." And she zoomed out, with me following in not-too-fast run. She's a nice kid. My mind whispered. I'd hate it if she got some old hag for a nanny.

To be perfectly honest, I didn't expect to get the job, but by the time Annie and I had explored every inch of her home, Mr. Warbucks had decided I'd be the one. I was given the guest room next to Annie's and once evening came, Annie's curiousity came with it.
"Where are you from? Who are your parents? Why does your voice sound like someone from another planet? Why do you carry an umbrella with you?"
I answered as many questions as I could, except for the umbrella one, I wasn't to sure I could trust her yet.
"I like your name, Ann Marie Poppins, it's very pretty." At that, I smiled and placed my stuff on the bed. "Well Annie, you know everything about me. Why don't you tell me something about you?" She shrugged and sat next to me on the bed.
"Well...I used to be an orphan." I raised an eyebrow. "I lived with the other girls Ms. Hannigan's Home for Girls. I came here originally to stay a week, but I left such an impression that Daddy Warbucks adopted me. When he tried to help me find my parents, Ms. Hannigan sent this couple to get me. I remember the man trying to kill me by trying to pry my fingers off the bridge."
At the last part, my whole face drained of color.
"That's terrible, what happened to them? The couple I mean." Annie shrugged. "What happens to all criminals, they went to jail. As for Ms. Hannigan, since she didn't do anything really bad, she went back to the orphanage."
"Do you know who the man was?" She shook her head. "No, why?" My brown eyes went hard with determination.
"A man like that who attempts murder shouldn't go unpunished. I can get revenge on him if you like." "Now that you mentoin it, I've always wished he could be severaly punished." "Then it's settled, I'll find the man and make sure he gets his just desserts."
