Three days later, my once uneventful schedule was hit with an unexpected blow. It all started with Annie, who woke me up in a panic rather then letting me sleep. I wanted her to go away until I heard her say someone had stolen something, then I fell out of bed.
After rushing to get dressed, we tip-toed downstairs to peak into Mr. Warbucks' office. We ended up listening to a long, boring conversation but found out that someone had robbed Mr. Warbucks' back account, they hadn't taken much, but the fact that someone had taken something made all the adults nervous.
"Is something bad going to happen?" Annie asked, clinging to my side, I gently stroked her head. "I don't know Annie, I don't know."

Feeling rather nervous, the two of us decided to visit the orphans that day. When we knocked on the door, one of the girls, Pepper, greeted us because Ms. Hannigan had passed out from too much drinking.
Once we reached the bedroom, Annie told the girl's what happened and started asking around. Apparently, ever since Annie was adopted, the girls had started wandering the streets collecting secrets. After awhile, she finally got a juicy bit of news from Molly.
"Ms. Hannigan's brother and his girlfriend started visiting recently. You can tell he's related because they have the same eyes. Anyway, every time they visit they stay for about a half hour, then leave like someone's after them. I've caught pieces of their conversations by cleaning the halls and listening through the air vent, something about stealing and getting to easy street."
"They must be the couple that pretended to be my parents!" Annie exclaimed. "They also must be the money thieves." I said, my usually bright behavior fading. "Ann?" I looked up. "Yes Annie?" "You don't think that man will try to hurt me again, do you?" The room fell silent as everyone looked to me for an answer.
"I'm not sure Annie. I'm not sure."
