A.N: This is going to get a bit confusing, so read carefully!
And also - I'm not a senior right now, so I'm not exactly sure how everything works yet. I also don't know how school works in Britain, so.. I'm sorry if I get something wrong, but please just go with it. Haha. Thank you to everyone reading, and if you could vote it would really help me out! Enjoy 😊

Before I can continue, Harry kicks the door down and slams my computer screen shut. I'm full on crying at this point.
"Okay, listen. You know what? You're right. I can't survive without your help. That's why I needed you in the first place. How about this: If you help me with this thing, even if it doesn't work, I will start going to counseling and get a job."
I have to re-think it for a second, but I agree. If this is the only way he'll go to someone, this is the last straw. I don't know why but I just can't turn him in.
"Fine. But this it."

I avoid talking to Callie for the rest of the week. If I call her I may accidentally say something. She ends up calling me on Sunday anyway and I end up having to lie to her, which is only making everything worse. For some reason, though, I care about my brother more. I end up making up some stupid lie about nightmares and she seemed to believe it.
Harry is an alcoholic and has been broke ever since our parents died. Harry was picking them up from a party, so they were most likely drunk. Little did they know, so was he. Anyway, I have a low-paying job and I don't have any money to spare. Maybe this wasn't such a bad idea, I have nothing left to loose.
Apparently, Callie's dad is the head of a huge company called Peterson Supply Co. Harry used to order office supplies from them when he still had an internship a couple years ago. Basically, Mr. Peterson came on a business trip to England, and when Harry saw that he had a daughter, that's what gave him the idea. He asked me to help him, and for some reason I agreed. At this point it didn't seem like there was any other way to get money. But, we needed a seemingly innocent way to get in touch with Callie. So, I told my History teacher that I had a project idea. A pen pal type thing. I explained everything to him and told him that I had a friend at Brooksmill Highschool, where Callie was going. He accepted and got in touch with Mrs. Princeton. She agreed, and it worked out perfectly. We even got to choose our partners. How convenient. Quite a genius plan if I do say so myself. I chose Callie and Harry chose a boy named Mason. I don't know who he is, but I'm starting to suspect things. After all of the stupid essays are over with, we can start. I spent the nights at my brother's house until we were ready to fly to America to get this over with.

By Monday morning I've recovered pretty well. I get ready for school at Harry's apartment and I hear him talking to someone on the phone. This is strange because I know he hates phone calls.
~
Callie's POV:
I sit through History wondering why Mason wouldn't be here. Should I be worried? I'm not exactly sure. I hope everything is okay. I barely pay attention to what the teacher is saying because I'm still thinking about Mason and shocked that he asked me to Prom over text. I actually don't care about it that much anyway, so I just forget it.

On Tuesday, Mason is in class. Phew. I walk to my seat and get a strange greeting from him as I hear him curse under his breath.
"Callie." he nods his head.
"Hi.." I reply, kind of confused. We are once again interrupted by the teacher.
"Does anyone else have their essays to turn in?"
No one raises their hand, so she continues.
"Okay. I'm proud of all of you for following through and I hope everyone had a nice time with this assignment. I think this was a great idea that the students came up with at the England Highschool."
What?
"Now I know Prom and Graduation are coming up, so we will lay off the work. You guys did great on your finals last month and you deserve it." She very surprizingly stops talking and lets us socialize for the rest of class. I tap Mason on the shoulder.
"Mason, I have to talk to you"
"Okay. What about?"
What the hell... Does he not know what he did? Why does everything have to be so strange?
"About Prom?" I say.
"Oh yeah, that."
"What do you mean? Do you even want to go with me?"
He shakes his head, almost as to get back on topic.
"Yeah, of course. You wouldn't want to graduate without going to Prom."
"Okay, I was just making sure. Why were you absent yesterday?"
"It's none of your business. Just had to work some things out with a friend."
"And you missed school because of it?"
"Callie that's enough. Why do you care anyway?"
"You're being awfully rude for someone who's taking me to the biggest dance in highschool."
"I'm just in a bad mood, okay?"
Fine, be that way. I think to myself.
"Class dismissed. Prom will be held on Friday night."
I let out a sigh and turn to Mason again.
"Alright, I'm gonna get home to go dress shopping. See you later."
He doesn't reply, but gets up and leaves the classroom.
