Sylis POV
My arms caged his small frame to the wall, his green eyes were wide and stricken with disbelief as he looked up at me.
"You don't believe me?" I chuckled dropping my arms," I'll just have to show you then." I said, stepping away from him.
He stayed pressed against the wall, his eyes following every move I made. I stood by the end of the bed and took a deep breath, trying to relax my tense muscles to make it easier on me.
"What ever you do, do not run. He likes the chase." I said only to get a small nod in return.
Before I knew it I felt the bones in my body shatter, a scream leaving my lips as I crumpled to the floor. I groaned as my spine snapped, my eyes staying locked on Atticus. I watched as his look transformed from one of disbelief to one of horror. His screaming echoed through the air, piercing my sensitive ears causing a demonic like whimper to leave my mouth that was shaping into a deformed snout. My hands burned as my fingers grew and shaped into a familiar deformed paw-like hand, my toes going through the same process. I could hear my clothes ripping as my body became to big for them
When I was done shifting I stood hunched over, my back rubbing against the ceiling of my room. I raised my gaze from the floor to Atticus, Valentin, my wolf letting out an unintentional wine at the sight. He sobbed as he flattened himself to the wall, his eyes shone bright with fear as he looked at me, his heart hammering away in his chest. Valentin stretched out a paw towards him, wanting to try and help Atticus understand we didn't want to hurt him. Instead of it calming him down as my wolf intended for it to, he let out a blood curdling scream of horror my wolfs heart breaking at the sound.
"N-no hurts Atticus!" he screamed hysterically, shaking his head no as we stepped closer.
If I could control myself in this form I'd be long gone, but I couldn't. My wolf was in total control and his heart was being crushed at the sight of the human he loved look up at him in fear. Valentin crumpled to his knees, clawing at his chest from the pain he felt as his heart clenched.
The door slammed against the wall as Eric threw it open, his eyes growing wide as he assessed the scene before him. Valentin ignored the fact Eric was there and once again outstretched his paw to the screaming human.
"Please, Atticus. Don't be afraid. " he whimpered, sounding more like a growl due to his demonic voice.
Atticus only screamed, tears streaming down his face as he slid down the wall and curled into himself. Eric stood in front of the human, his eyes wide as he watched Valentin throw his head back and howl from his pain.
"Sylis." Eric said in a pity filled whisper as he scooped Atticus into his arms, trying to calm the hysteric boy as everything in my sight went dark.
Me and my wolf descended into the darkness.
********
"It worked." I rasped as the Luna dabbed my sweat covered forehead with a cold rag." The bond is severed." I said with a weak smile.
"Shut up Sylis." she whispered softly, sadness in her tone.
"Be happy Jackie. He can be happy now." I said, looking over at the bear that still laid in front of the fire guard. "Besides don't act like you're not happy I'm getting the pain I deserve." I chuckled.
"Damn it Sylis why couldn't you just accept him?! Neither of you would be in pain if you would have just accepted him!" she snapped.
"I did this for him Jackie. I'm protecting him from me, from Valentin. If Valentin ever got pissed off at Atticus I wouldn't be able to stop him and you and Eric aren't always going to be around in time to stop him, then what would happen? Atticus would be dead or severely injured. Valentin couldn't live knowing he hurt his mate and I couldn't live knowing I couldn't do anything to stop it. And with Atticus being the naive little pest he is, he would forgive me and we would just repeat the cycle over and over again until either I killed myself because I was tired of hurting him or he died because Valentin got so angry he ripped the boys throat out. " I snapped.
The silence was thick between us, she was taken back by my sudden outburst.
"Sylis I-"
"Just get out." I growled.
"Bu-"
"I said get out!" I yelled.
Silently the Luna placed the rag shes been using in the bowl on my night stand before leaving the room. My body ached and sweat trickled down my forehead as I laid in my bed, propped up on multiple pillows. Atticus's screams and the look he had on his face as he looked at me was now burned into my brain and playing on repeat.
"He's okay if you were wondering. People can touch him now without it hurting him. He's happy about that."Eric said leaning on the door frame to my bedroom, a smile playing on his lips. "Lennon is with him, he's helping Atticus get packed." he finished,
"Good. Everything is going as planned then." I deadpanned, closing my eyes and resting my head on the pillows behind me.
"Sylis are you sure you want this?" He asked, worry clear in his voice.
"Yes I'm sure Eric. Stop pitying me, I'll be fine once the little pest is gone. Now leave me the fuck alone so I can rest." I snapped.
I heard Eric let out a sigh before I heard the sound of my bedroom door slamming shut. This was the way it had to be. This was the only way Atticus could be happy. He didn't deserve to be stuck with someone like me.
I was a murderer.
A monster.
A creature that was damned to go to hell and rot there for all of eternity.
I was the offspring of a demon and a werewolf mating.
He would be in danger every second he was with me. Now that he's leaving with Lennon he can be safe and happy at the same time, possibly even falling in love.
I envied him.
