i don't remember much about first meeting him. i remember his hair, god, his hair. bright pink splayed across his forehead. i remember the way his shoulders filled out his t-shirt. i remember how his ass looked in his jeans. ok so maybe i remembered a bit about meeting him.

i piled onto the crowded subway, shoving my way through the bodies until i found an available seat next to a rather large sleeping man. feeling claustrophobic from the sheer amount of bodies in the car, i shoved in some headphones and began to blast some music. i began to zone out, staring at the tunnel lights speeding by out the window. i was snapped out of my trance by the large man shoving his way up to exit for his stop. that was when i felt my breath catch in my throat. the boy that had just stepped onto the subway had caught my eye. well, i mean, everything about him demanded attention. his vibrant hair was like a beacon for people's eyes. i found my heart speed up as he spotted the vacant seat next to me and moved to sit down. jesus christ tyler it's just some stranger on the subway calm the hell down, i tried to convince myself. he sat down next to me and i tried to keep my cheeks from going red.
instead of acting like a school girl with a crush, i opted to instead focus on the catchy beat of the song coming from my headphones. i was successfully zoning out again when i felt a poke on my shoulder. jesus.
i pulled out the headphone and turned to face the pink haired poking culprit. i was faced with a sly smile.
"hey, i'm josh," said the boy.
"uh, hi josh, i'm tyler." i managed to spit out.
i didn't really know where to go from there. i wasn't exactly used to random strangers introducing themselves to me on the subway.
"so where are you headed today?" he asked, attempting to continue with small talk.
"home." i said simply. "oh uh and you?" i added on as a second thought. i was really shit at this small talk stuff.
"same as you. i just moved here." he said.
"oh, what brings you to new york?" i asked.
"i'm not sure of that yet." he said with a smile.
my stop came up faster than i expected and i stood up awkwardly. "uhh this is my stop." i said, turning around to hide how red i probably was turning.
suddenly i felt a body behind mine.
"it's mine too." he said in my ear, giving me goosebumps.
oh god.
