cliche as it was, i almost found myself hoping that josh had somehow moved into my apartment complex. unfortunately, that wasn't the case and we soon reached his small complex about three blocks away from my own. the small talk on the walk there had been unbearably awkward.
"this is my stop." he said with a small wave.
"bye josh." i replied as he turned to walk up the steps. "see you soon tyler," he responded.
jesus.
i didn't see josh for a while after that, maybe 3-4 days. saturday came and i found myself lounging on my couch enjoying my rare day off. suddenly there was a loud knock at the door. i looked down at my lack of shirt and pyjama pants and muttered some profanity to myself. "uh- just a second!" i managed to say, quickly grabbing a hoodie to throw on.
i walked to the door and what met me there had my cheeks flushed red.
of course it had to be him.
"hey tyler," he said, his voice managing to sound seductive even without him trying.
"how the hell did you find my house?" i said, not intending for it to sound as defensive as it did.
"i asked your neighbour. mrs. jones? nice lady." he said slyly.
"ok.. why are you here?" i inquired.
"well i realized something, i don't have your number yet." he said.
"and what if i don't want to give it to you?" i said, again surprising myself with the amount of sass i put behind the words.
"ouch." he laughed.
"sorry." i mumbled out of habit.
"dude chill it's fine." he said, smiling.
fuck his smile.
"well if you don't want to give me yours, i guess i'll have no choice but to give you mine." he said with a smile.
dumbstruck i handed him my phone and watched as he typed his number in to my phone.
he handed it back to me and grinned.
"see ya later tyler." he said, turning to walk away before i had a chance to respond.
