I sat on the edge of the Blessed River, looking into it. My reflection stared back at me, the familiar blue eyes looked at me as if inspecting me, but I knew it was me and my imagination. I thought of my reflection as the only one I could really relate to, the only one who could truly understand me, because they were me, and they didn't exist. "Winter! Your mom's been looking for you!" I heard a voice call, and I jumped up and stumbled back, almost falling into the water. "N-Night! You startled me..." I said not meeting her eyes. Night smiled and I could hear her trying to stop laughing. "Sorry." she said after she calmed down. "It's fine?" I said looking at her confused, but she waved it off. "We should get you back before your mom has a heart attack." she said turning around and walking ahead, and I followed. A sudden change from happy to serious. It had been this way for awhile, but I didn't know why. Night wouldn't tell me, but I understood that it had to be private and that she didn't have to tell me something she didn't want to. Still, me being her only friend, I worried about her. I think that if she weren't so different then she wouldn't have just me. Maybe she wouldn't have whatever this problem was at all. There was a reason for Night's name. Her name was based from what she was. A Night angel. She was different from everyone else in our village, as we were all day angels. Due to Night being so different from everyone else, she wasn't liked very well by the others. Me, being friends with her...well, I didn't have many friends either. It wasn't like I would've been able to make friends anyway, though. I was too shy and awkward around people I wasn't familiar with, so I was really just bothered either way.

It wasn't long before we reached my family's store; or well, my mom's store. About a year ago there was an awful drought leading to lot's of people getting sick and not having enough supplies. Some started to get sick and some were beginning to leave. My mom quickly began selling things for a small price and traded. Eventually my mom decided to open up a small store, and she quit her job to put all of her time into the store. It was on the first floor of what used to be our house. We moved most of our things upstairs, but things from our living room went to the basement. The first floor windows had been widened so that you could look in and see what we sold. It looked like any basic store. After a while my sister Siare and I began helping out as the store got busier. Now it was just daily work. Sometimes I took "breaks" like these when I felt overwhelmed but Everyday was for the most part the same, but that was the way I liked it. Busy, but good. My mom greeted Night and I at the door and sent me straight to work and sent Night on her way since I wouldn't be able to hang out with her for the rest of the day. I watched her leave, and then began to do the daily work.

(Night's PoV)

After Mrs. Blaze shooed me away I decided to take a walk, pretty much the only thing I could do in the sunlight. No one liked me very much. I'm the only night angel, so they think I'm a bad omen or something. There once were two of us. Trace was his name, but he died a long time ago, or so everyone says, I don't really believe it because it still feels like he is out there somewhere. And before you ask, No he was never my boyfriend nor do I like him in that sense, he is more like my best friend. The only one who understands me..."Ow!" I said as someone threw a river pebble at me. I looked up and Malachi, Crutious, and Slane were laughing. "Real mature..." I said and marched angrily in the other direction. They flew up and landed in my way. "Going so soon?" Malachi asked. "Yes! Go away, bird brains!" I shouted. They laughed. I started to run the other way but they picked me up by my ankle and flew up into the air. "AHHH!" I screamed. They just laughed more. "Please! Put me down!" I screamed again. "If you say so!" Malachi said, and then they released my ankle and I fell down towards the ground. I tried to flap my wings but they didn't help. I reached for my necklace but it was gone! "Help me!" I screamed, falling.
