Chapter 2

(Winter's PoV)

"Joseph!" I cried happily as I hugged my brother. "Winter, you've grown...a little..." he said laughing and I pouted. "Shut it, I'm not that short." I said flicking his forehead. Joseph laughed some more. "Hi Joseph..." Siare said, and Joseph looked over at Siare and smiled. "Siare! Finally decided to greet me hm?" he said and Siare shrugged as we began walking. "Well...I have things to do, I'll be going now." Siare said as she began walking in the other direction. "So Shorty, where's Night, she's usually with you." Joseph asked and my smile faded a bit. "I don't know, she wasn't at her house this morning." I said and Joseph's face went from happy to worried in less than a second. "Have you checked everywhere? Maybe she went to the shop to look for you." he said and I shook my head. "We made arrangements, I was supposed to bring her here, she couldn't have." I said and Joseph shook his head. "We're probably just overreacting, she might've had something to do earlier." he said trying to dismiss his distress, but I could tell he was doubting that. I was too. "Hey, maybe we can eat some taffy while we wait? I got you some." I said handing him a box of taffy, and he looked down at me suspiciously. "I didn't eat any." I said and he took it. "Nice." he said as he opened it. "I'll eat some later." he said handing it back to me and I put it in my bag. "Yeah. More like you'll steal mine and yours later." I said and my brother laughed. "You know me too well. Anyway, let's go see mom." I nodded in agreement and we began flying to the shop.

(Night's PoV)

After eating food with Trace, we walked to the edge of the Blessed River. "It's Back Week." Trace frowned. "Oh shoot!" I suddenly realized that I had plans with WInter. "I forgot! I have to go. I'll be back tomorrow." I said as I started off. "I won't be here!" He shouted after me. I turned back. "Wha-Why?" My wings drooped a bit. "It's Back Week. Meaning I can't stay long. People will notice I'm here." Trace sighed. "But- I miss you. I'm finally not alone." I pouted. Trace pulled me into a hug. "I miss you too, but I can't stay. You can do this. I promise." Trace kissed my forehead. "Bye Night. I will see you as soon as I can." Trace let me go and ran off. "Bye..." I frowned. 'Back to being alone.' I sighed and walked off into the direction of home.

As I reached town I noticed WInter and Joseph fluttering around. She looked worried. "Winter!" I shouted up at her. She paused and looked down. "Night where have you been?!" she asked flying up to me, and I looked at her confused. "I've been here?" I said. She frowned. "Hey Joseph." I nodded up at him. He smiled and waved a bit, but didn't say anything. "Sorry I missed breakfast. I fell asleep last night by the willow tree." I shrugged. Winter looked at me as if she didn't believe me, but then she had an 'oh' expression and backed up. "That's fine. I was just worried about you." she said messing with a piece of her hair. "I'm okay now." I smiled at her. "Come on. Let's not just stand in the street. It's Back Week. Let's go do Something." Winter's face lit up as she pulled out her box of taffy, which I wasn't surprised at, she gets at least 10 boxes each year. "We can eat taffy!" she suggests, and Joseph ruffles her hair and she gasps as she tries to fix it. I laughed. "Alright. Sounds good to me. "Yay! Let's go buy some more, I may or may not have eaten my box already..." Winter said and Joseph frowns as we begin to walk. "You were supposed to save some for later." he scolds her and she shrugs it off as she opens the box she held. She turned around and she walks backward as the three of us eat the taffy, until she trips and falls, and taffy flies everywhere. "The taffy!" Winter stumbles up as she tries to pick up the taffy off the ground. I hold back a laugh and help her pick it up. "Be careful next time." "Ah, would you look at that, Miss Night angel and her friend dropped sweets." Malachi, Crutious, and Slane walked up to us. "Oh go jump in a lake Malachi." I rolled my eyes at him and helped Winter up. "Awww so cute. Was that supposed to be a threat?" Malachi poked my shoulder. "Shut up and stop messing with her. You're just jealous you're not as special." Winter says shoving me behind her. For as quiet and timid as she was, she was one to stick up for her family and friends. "Jealous of what? She's a night angel." Crutious says looking down at her. "She's the only one living in our village. It's a blessing to have her around!" she said, you could tell that she was getting angrier by the second. It's okay Winter. I can handle this." I lightly pushed her aside. She looks at me, kind of upset but she lets it go when Joseph puts a hand on her shoulder. "You're nothing Night. You don't belong here." Malachi went to shove me into the dirt but I had enough of this abuse. I grabbed his hand and twisted his arm behind his back and shoved him to his knees, holding my sword to his throat. "I am worth more than you will ever be. Shut your stupid mouth and go home. Leave my friends and I alone." I sneered at him. Just as I was about to let him go, two angel guards showed up and dragged me off of him. "Night Lily, You are under arrest." They put me in special cuffs so I couldn't break away. "W-what? You can't do this!" I heard Winter shouting as they flew off with me. I smirked. 'Oh yes they can Winter. This was coming anyway.' "No! No this isn't happening, no!" Winter's sobs came, her heart must've been crushed. I ignored them though, it was for the best.
