Being Popular Is Hard

Chapter 6

"I came up to tell you that ma'am is calling you. Classes have started you know?"

"Oh, I'm sorry. I'll come down immediately. But wait -" I said just before Kai was about to leave.

"Hm. What is it?" said Kai turning around.

"I...... I...... I didn't ask you out because I like you, but because it was a dare given by Sophie. I just thought you should know."

"You thought I should know? Dude, this is a really big deal before dating someone. Hello, do you even know anything?"

"Sorry, it's just that now I don't know if I really like you."

"Well, I guess we don't like each other that way. I mean we could be really good friends, you know?"

"Yeah, I guess so."

"Well, for now, we should go down before we get a punishment for being late to class." said Kai giving his heart warming smile. 

I walked down the stairs thinking to myself "Well that was easy. I guess he can be good sometimes."  While thinking all this, we reached class. Thank God it was Mrs. Labrinda's class. Mrs. Labrinda is a really sweet teacher.

"Oh my, why are you two late? I will punish you next time. Now, go and sit in your seats." said Mrs. Labrinda.

We reached our seats and sat down for the English class. English was pretty easy. I just sat and daydreamed. And then I remembered about Sophie leaving. I was about to burst into tears. Harrison saw that and held my hand tight.

"It's okay. Sophie won't leave the country only school," said Harrison thinking positive. I held my tears in. 

The class was over and next was french with Mrs. Valiant. Le français est beau. (French is beautiful) Thinking about french reminds me of France and the delicious cuisine. Mouthwatering. Okay.. I'm a foodie. It can't be helped. French started and my attention was only on the class and forgot about Sophie for a period.  

Next was history with Mrs. Abigor. Argghhh. Even though I topped history last time, I hate history from the bottom of my heart. But I had to pay attention because.. well because it was HISTORY.  After that, we had Maths with Mrs. Lee. And with that, the day ended.

 Before I went home I left a note in Sophie's locker. It said-

Dear Sophie,

I know you can't do anything about moving out of the school as it is your parent's decision. It doesn't matter as I won't stop seeing you. This is not the end of our friendship. We shall meet every weekend and have sleepovers like every weekend. It will be fun and this time I'll tell you to ask Kai out. Kai and I aren't dating because we don't like each other in that way. Anyways, I will meet you soon. Don't forget to have the sleepover at your house this Friday.

I went home to find piled up boxes.

"Mom, what the hell?"

"Oh dear, you are home already? Don't you remember we have to pack as we are moving to the mansion? Go upstairs and pack your things. We'll move this Friday so hurry up."
