Being Popular Is Hard

Chapter 31

What the hell does Dario think he's doing here? Before he could say hi I and Sophie both punched in the face. As best friends we hate him. He just left poor little Katie in despair. And then he has the nerve to come back. That also at such a critical time where Katie needs to be free from tension. He should be happy he isn't dead by now in my hands.

"What is he doing here, Kai?" I turned to face Kai.

"Look... I don't want him to be here either. But Katie's parents told him to come." said looking quite down 

"Then what about the time of you guys running way to save Jenny and stand up to her and your parents," said Sophie starting an argument. Sophie had come back so that she could be with Katie.

"Fine. I'll talk to her parents and make sure he goes away," frustratedly said Kai, "Happy?"

"Wait... I'll talk to them," said I unexpectedly.

Katie's parents were in Dario's hospital room. I don't get it why they are in there instead of being with Katie. Dario is just unconsciousness. Their own daughter is in such a crucial situation and there are with some Dario who left Katie in depression making her lose hope in love. I don't even know why they call themselves Katie's parents. I was about to open the door when I heard something like "... make sure Katie doesn't know about this." Make sure Katie doesn't know what? I opened the door slightly and eavesdropped their conversation.

"Listen, I know we told you to betray her but please just leave." said a voice sounding like Katie's dad.

"Yeah, whatever. I let her know why I left her alone just like that. She needs to know." said Dario. I pretty familiar with Dario's voice.

"And what will you say her," said Katie's dad being interrupted by someone weeping, "Can you stop crying? Your daughter is not going to die. I have an important conversation going on." called out Katie's dad to Katie's mom.

"What will I say her? The truth about you bribing my parents to move away to Chicago from Phoenix." What? Why would they do that?

"There is a reason behind it. Please, there is a plan," pleaded Katie's dad.

"There was a plan," corrected Dario, "The plan didn't work. Did it? She either fell in love and got her heart broken."

"Look, we wanted to keep her safe from heartbreaks. If you say this to her she'll go through more heartbreaks," again Katie's dad was interrupted my Katie's mom weeping, "WILL YOU JUST STOP CRYING?"

"Well, she needs to know the truth eventually. I don't wanna be the bad guy in this story anymore. IN REALITY, YOU ARE THE BAD ONE," Dario raised his voice, "YOU BRIBED MY PARENTS, BROKE YOUR DAUGHTER'S HEART AND EVEN WOUNDED YOUR OWN WIFE. DON'T TELL ME TO SHUT UP." Dario got up in frustration and made his way to the door. But before he could do anything Katie's father stopped him by the wrist.

The way Katie's father was holding Dario must've been painful because I could see his face turn red. He screamed in pain. Before I could react Katie's father hit him on his head with something which made Dario fall straight on the ground. Katie's mom screamed so loud.  But then again I just stood there helplessly.
