Anna's POV.

I walk inside the house after coming home from Jace's. Jace was really upset after telling me that he's in questioning. I wouldn't be honest if I said I'm not scared for him. For me. For us.

"Anna?" My dad asks.

"Yes?" I say. He walks around the corner from the kitchen. "How are you doing?" He asks.

"I'm good, I'm hungry," I giggle. He smiles.

My dad has been really nice lately, and I'm not so sure I understand. But I like it.

My dad turns around and walks back into the kitchen. "Well, I was thinking we could go out for breakfast. Just me and you," He suggests. I look at him. "Um, yeah. That'd be nice," I say.

"Great! I just need to clean up a bit, then we'll go," He says. I nod. I turn and walk up to my bedroom.

I open my door, and see my cleaned up bedroom. I set my jacket on the bed. I take out the bag of weed. I hide it in my dresser drawer. I open up my dresser drawers and pick out a baby pink t-shirt and grey sweatpants. I change into the clothes I picked out. My phone vibrates.

I turn around and look at it. It's a text from Jace.

Jace: hey, wanna party tonight?

Anna: always. where?

Jace: it's at the barn again. I'd be careful. Stay by me, k?

Anna: okay. when is it?

Jace: 8.

Anna: sounds good.

I walk out of my bedroom and into the bathroom. I brush my hair and throw it up in a messy bun. I brush my teeth and spray on some perfume.

I walk downstairs, as my dad stands by the front door. "Ready?" He asks. I nod.

We walk inside the restaurant. The same restaurant we used to go to when I was little. I could never forget this place. I know my dad is trying to fix things between us, so far this isn't bad.

The waitress leads us to a table, and hands us our menus.I open the menu and look at it. "I know what I want," I say. My dad looks up. "Rainbow chip-"

"Pancakes with rainbow sprinkles," I finish. He smiles, which makes me smile. He chuckles and looks down at his menu. "You've always loved those," He says. I smile and nod.

"How have you been?" He asks. "Jace treating you good?"

I nod. "I've been really good, and Jace has been really nice. He's kinda protective, it's funny," I say. He nods. "How so?"

I take a breath. "He just, he doesn't want me to get hurt or anything. It's sweet. It's not in a creepy way," I say. He nods.

Anna, shut up. Soon you'll be exposing the fact that you got in a fight and you'll expose Johnson's gang.

"Can I get you anything to drink?" The waitress asks. I look up, as my dad orders his drink. Then I order my milk.

My dad looks at me. "How's school?"

I take another breath. "It's really good! I love it! Jace may be switching there. He hates St Andrews," I say.

"I'm sure he does. Frankly, it doesn't suit him," He says. I push up my lips.

I mean, he's right.

My dad stays silent, but then speaks up. "You're almost a senior, Savannah. Have you thought about college?"
