Anna's POV.

I walk up the front steps of Jace's house. Carrying my bags and blanket. I take a deep breath and knock on the door. I gulp.

A tall lady with brunette hair opens the door. She has a shocked look on her face. "Hello?"

"H-Hi. Is Jace here?" I ask.

"Um, no. He hasn't come back from school yet," She says.

"Oh, right." I turn to the driveway. "I didn't even look and see if his was car was here. Well, um. Could you just tell him I stopped by?" I ask.

"Who are you?" She asks. I bite my lip. "Anna, i'm his girlfriend," I say. Her eyes widen.

"I thought he was with Alexia?" She says softly.

"Who's alexia?"

"Oh, I guess his ex. Um, he should be back home soon. Wanna come in?" She asks. I look down. "S-Sure."

I walk in and set my things down. "Why do you have bags with you?" She asks.

"I got kicked out. I need to stay with a few friends for a while," I say.

"Really? Sweetie, you can stay with us. Why'd you get kicked out?"

I look down. "Jace would understand more, since he knows what my parents are like. I'm just the child they don't approve of." I shake my head. She looks down.

"That must be really hard for you," She says. I nod. "I guess I kinda got myself into it. But I'm a teen, I'm supposed to be out having fun. I'm not doing anything to hurt anyone. I just- It hurts."

She sighs. "You seem like an innocent girl. You wouldn't hurt anyone," She says.

I shake my head. "I couldn't. I care about people way too much. Even the people who hurt me," I say.

"Anna, why are you dating my son?"

I look up. My eyes widen. "W-What?"

"You're the complete opposite of him. He's trouble. I've given up with up with him, you know? I love him so much, it's hard watching him do these things. I can't lose him. I just don't see how a sweet and innocent girl like you, dates a dangerous boy like Jace."

My heart drops. I look down, my lips parted. "Somehow we just love each other. I know we're young, but I think it's love. It's unbreakable," I say.

She cracks a slight smile. "Does he treat you right?" She asks.

I nod. "Yeah. He does," I smile.

"That's all I care about then. I don't want my son disrespecting someone he supposedly loves," She says.

"He can be a jerk, but that's just him. I don't really know his past, but I'm sure it's hard, from what he's told me. And I'm sure there's a reason he gets angry easily," I say. She nods.

After talking with Jace's mom for a while, Jace finally comes back. He looks at me with a shocked look on his face.

"Anna?" He asks. I stand up. "H-Hi."

"What are you doing here?" He asks.

"My dad kicked me out," I say, softly.

He licks his lips and hugs me. "What happened?" He asks. My lips part, I close my eyes. I sigh. I pick up my bags and point upstairs. Jace nods and leads me to his room.

"Kathleen spread the rumor. She also told my parents. Apparently, I drunk texted her and said I was pregnant. I can't remember doing it. But my dad just gave up on me. My mom didn't stop him. She didn't stop me. After saying she would take me out if things were bad, I guess she agrees with him."
